The Mess Hall:
“So Teyla where is Torren this afternoon?” Sheppard asked as he took a sip of his coffee.
“He is with his father on Athos,” Teyla replied, “I will be leaving in an hour to get him and to check on my people.”
Sheppard was about to continue the conversation, but Chuck come over the comm. and said, “Teyla to the control room. Teyla to the control room.”
Teyla informed Chuck via her radio that she was on her way and just as Ronon and McKay sat down at the table to eat lunch, she got up and left.
Sheppard had a bad feeling about Teyla being called to the control room since it wasn’t often that she was called to go there, so he drank the rest of his coffee and said, “Come on lets go.”
“But I just started eating,” McKay said.
Ronon practically pulled McKay out of the chair and went to follow Sheppard.
The Control Room:
“A message came for you from Athos,” Chuck said to Teyla, “You’re needed on Athos immediately.”
“Did they say why?” Teyla asked worried.
“They just said it was really important,” Chuck replied.
“We’ll go get geared up and come with you,” Sheppard said.
Teyla turned to Sheppard and said, “Thank you John.”
The Athosian Planet:
When Teyla and the others exited the gate, several Athosians were waiting for her.
Teyla walked up to her people and asked, “Why was I called here?”
“Torren had been kidnapped,” an Athosian woman replied.
Teyla didn’t know what to do, so she ran as fast as she could to the Athosian village not waiting for Sheppard and the others. She would have to have words with Kanaan. Once at the village she asked one of the Athosains where Kanaan was, and they told her where he was.
“How could you let this happen?” Teyla asked angry as ever once she walked over to him.
Kanaan tried to tell her it was just an accident and that he didn’t know it was going to happen, but Teyla would have none of it.
“I want you get the rest of your things from Atlantis,” Teyla said still angry, “It will be a long time before I trust you with Torren.”
After Teyla said that she walked away. The current mood she was in made her feel like she wanted to beat someone up. Sheppard and the others walked up to her when she reached the edge of the village.
"What happened Teyla?" Sheppard asked with concern.
Teyla told him, "Torren has been kidnapped."
Teyla was about to hit a tree given that she was still in the mood to beat someone up.
"Ronon get some Athosians together and start looking for any clues," Sheppard said, "I'll stay here with Teyla.
Ronon nodded yes and practically dragged McKay with him.
"Teyla we'll find Torren," Sheppard said to Teyla hoping to ease her mood if only for a little, but it didn't seem like it was helping much.
Teyla just stood there for a few moments in silence before she remembered something from a couple of years ago. She turned to Sheppard and said, " About 2 years ago I told you something in the jumper after you saved me when I was kidnapped."
Sheppard told her he remembered the incident very well and wondered what Teyla was getting at.
Teyla remembered the words to this very day and they were something she would never forget. "They said if I have anymore children that I would pay dearly.”
Sheppard could see that Teyla was still angry, but at the same time he could tell that she wanted to cry. Teyla turned to the nearest tree and kicked it as hard as she could. Sheppard walked over to her and grabbed her before she started beating up the tree. He was about to say something to her, but she started to cry so he held her and let her cry for a minute before he said anything.
"We know who took Torren," Sheppard said to Teyla who was still crying a little, "Let's go get him back and make sure no one kidnaps him again."
Teyla stopped crying after what he had just said, but she was still angry. She told him thank you and then they let go of each other before heading back to the Athosian Village.
"Ronon any clues yet? " Sheppard asked over the radio to Ronon.
"Not yet" Ronon replied to Sheppard.
"Teyla knows who took Torren," Sheppard said, "As soon as we're done searching for clues will head back to Atlantis and get a plan together. I'm going to ask the Athosians about what happened and see if I can get a timeline of events. It might help us get some other clues. Sheppard out.
"We should start with Kanaan," Teyla said.
Sheppard told Teyla he agreed and followed her to the area where Kanaan was. Once they finished questioning him, they questioned every Athosian that could have possible seen anything, but before they could finish Ronon came over the radio.
"I found some resent boot prints and they are not Athosian. They seem to be coming from the village and stopping here," Ronon said over he radio to Sheppard, "Where they went after this must have been by ship."
"Check the path and make sure there are no more clues lying around. I'll finish up here and then we'll gather up all the information we have before head back to Atlantis and get a plan going.
Sheppard went back to questioning the remaining Athosians while Ronon went to check the path of the footprints.
Once they had all the information and clues they were going to get from the planet, they headed back to Atlantis.
The Control Room:
When they got up to the control room Woolsey was waiting for them.
"Good thing you're here," Sheppard said, "We were just about to come see you. Has the Daedalus arrived yet?"
"Not yet but it should be here soon," Woolsey replied, "Why?"
"We'll need their help," Sheppard replied and then with Teyla told him about what happened with Torren.
The Lakeyin Ship:
"Bring me the baby," Lin'Jig said to one of the guards.
Minutes later a guard returned with a crying Torren in hand and handed him Lin'Jig.
"At last I have child," Ling Jig said before she tried to get Torren quiet," I am your mother now."
Another guard walked in and informed Lin'Jig they would be arriving in Lakeyin space within the hour. Lin'Jig told him thank you and returned her attention to Torren.
"Now let's see you need a name," Lin'Jig said to Torren and then she though for a moment before coming up with something, "I know Sen'Quai."
All Torren did was cry for his mother, Teyla.
The Daedalus:
When the Daedalus arrived at Atlantis, they were informed of the situation and Sheppard's team, Major Lorne's team and Dr. Cole boarded the ship so they could pick up Dr. Beckett.
Once Beckett was on board the ship, he asked, "What do you need my help with?"
"Torren has been kidnapped," Sheppard said and then he continued on about the situation before saying, "Dr. Cole has files that will help."
Sheppard let Dr. Cole take over while he went to check on Teyla.
Daedalus' Gym:
After minutes of looking for Teyla he found her in the gym. Sheppard didn't say anything and just grabbed some sticks after seeing that Teyla already had some, so he set his gear down and begin bantos fighting with her. He got knocked down a few times, but managed to knock Teyla down more than few times. She was in both a kick someone's butt and worried about Torren mood. He was about to ask her how she was, but thought the better of it because she might have decided to kick his butt. The next time Sheppard knocked Teyla down she stayed on the floor and started to cry. He set his bantos rods, knelt down, grabbed her and held her as she cried.
Daedalus' Bridge:
An hour or two later the Daedalus reached Lakeyin space thanks to the information that Teyla and Ronon provided on the location. Colonel Caldwell then radioed Sheppard and let him they reached Lakeyin space. Sheppard told him he was on his way and he informed the others.
As Sheppard entered the bridge he asked, "Would it be possible to use the long range sensors to scan for Athosian life signs?"
Colonel Caldwell gave the order to scan for Athosian life signs and when the scan was completed he asked, "What's in the area?"
The officer told him there were a few planets, a space station and small ship docked at the space station.
"When Teyla was taken, we found her at the space station," Sheppard said, "It's a good chance that's where they've taken Torren. Can you get close enough to beam my team and Lorne's aboard in the jumper?"
Caldwell gave the order and then said, "Let me know when you're ready to beam aboard."
Once Sheppard and Lorne's team were ready to beam aboard and Doctors Beckett and Cole informed of the next phase of the of the mission, the two teams beamed to the space station in the jumper.
The Lakeyin Space Station:
Once aboard, Sheppard gave the order for Lorne's team to go one way while his team went the other way just to cover more ground. Sheppard also told Lorne to radio him if found anything and more importantly Torren. Sheppard and Lorne's team were in stealth mode as they began to search the space station for Torren. While Sheppard's team was continuing to search for Torren, they heard a noise, so Sheppard asked McKay if there were any life signs and McKay told him one. The noise got closer, so Sheppard peered around the corner and saw a woman.. The woman managed to see him and Sheppard came from around the corner, weapon at the ready.
"Please put your weapon down. I'm unarmed," Fin'Jig said, "I need to get off this space station."
"And why would you want to do that?" Sheppard asked.
"I don't have time to explain now," Fin'Jig said, "but sine you are outsiders I assume you are here for the child my sister kidnapped."
"Yes we are," Sheppard replied.
"I will take you to him if you help me," said Fin'Jig, "then I will explain everything."
"We will help you, but any tricks and the deal's off," Sheppard said as he lowered his weapon a little.
Fin'Jig motioned for Sheppard to follow and he motioned for his team to follow. For now he would trust her. Sheppard took a moment to radio Lorne of their current situation and where they were. Sheppard, with Fin'Jig's help, told Lorne where he and his team could meet them.
"This way," Fin'Jig said and then she stopped them, "Someone's coming. This way to my quarters. You can hide there."
They quickly made there to Fin'Jig's quarters.
Once inside Sheppard asked, "Now can you tell us what's going on?"
"My sister Lin'Jig and brothers Min'Jig and Din Jig had me under some mind control, but it wasn't until recently that I was able to break free. They do not know that I have. There's more to what going on then just that. The reason my sister had the child kidnapped. Just as you were be rescued," Fin'Jig said as she pointing to Teyla, "My sister went into labor and at the point the baby was about to emerge, the baby died. It's not the first time it's happened to her. There's a condition that some women are born with. It's one that means that any baby they will have will die in the process of being born. Lin'Jig wants a child so bad she was willing to kidnap a child."
"And after all that's happened," Sheppard said looking at Teyla, "That meant Torren."
"She must not be allowed to get away with this," Teyla said with a little angry in her voice.
"I intend to see that she does not," Fin'Jig said, "I will see if the coast is clear."
Once Fin'Jig told them the coast was clear, they headed to meet up with Lorne and his team and to get Torren.
Elsewhere on the Lakeyin space station, Lin'Jig was trying to feed Torren some porridge, but all he did was pitch a fit of sorts and he didn't eat much.
"You must eat something Sen'Quai," Lin'Jig said, "If you won't eat something now then you will nap."
Lin'Jig picked up Torren and carried him to her quarters and began to put him down for a nap. When he wouldn't go to sleep, she turned on some Lakeyin music in hopes that the music would put him to sleep. It took a while but Torren did manage to fall asleep.
"Sleep my son," Lin'Jig said quietly over the baby bed that Torren was in.
Lin'Jig sent a message for someone to watch Torren while she was out of the room. Once someone came to her room she left.
Fin'Jig and the others finally reached the spot where Lorne and his team were waiting.
"It may be best for me to get him. It will arouse less suspicion," Fin' Jig said in a low tone.
From a distance, the sound of footsteps could be heard.
"This way," Fin'Jig said as she motioned for everyone to follow her.
Once everyone had followed Fin'Jig to a safe hiding place, she said in a low tone, "This is a storage room. We should be safe for now."
Fin'Jig turned to Teyla, "What did you say the name of your son was?"
Teyla told her Torren and Fin'Jig said to everyone, "If I go now I can get him. Not many people come here this time of day."
"I should go with her," Teyla said.
"You heard what she said," Sheppard said, "It's better if she goes by herself. There's no telling what they might do to you if they find you again."
"I will make sure I get back here safe and with no problems," Fin'Jig said, "Just stay out of site until my return."
Once everyone else was out of site, Fin'Jig left the room.
"John I still think I should have gone with her," Teyla said.
"It would have done Torren no good if his mother was in trouble too," Sheppard said.
Teyla felt so helpless because her son was so close and there was nothing she could do, but Sheppard was right it was best to wait.
Fin'Jig's first stop was the kitchen to get a tray of food. In the drink, she put some sleeping medicine for the person watching Torren. With the tray of food in hand, she headed straight for her sister's quarters. Once inside Fin'Jig said, "The drink is for you."
Fin'Jig handed the babysitter the drink and the babysitter took it.
"Did you do something to the drink?" the babysitter asked.
Fin'Jig told the babysitter no and the babysitter drank the drink. Soon the babysitter was asleep and Fin'Jig grabbed Torren. She exited the room quickly and made her way back to the storage room as fast as could while being careful to not be seen. Luckily for her Torren sleep the whole way. Once inside the storage room, Torren began to wake up. Fin'Jig walked over to Teyla and said in a low tone, "Here is your son Torren."
Teyla took Torren from her and told her thank you. She would be much more excited later.
"Now if we are to get out of here we must hurry before Lin'Jig returns to her quarters," Fin'Jig said in a low tone.
"What would be the quickest way back to our jumper," Sheppard asked in a low tone.
"Follow me," Fin'Jig said.
Torren was about to cry, but when he saw Teyla he fell back to sleep knowing he was in the safety of his mother's arms.
In another part of the Lakeyin space station, Lin'Jig was on her way back to her quarters. When she got there, she noticed the babysitter was asleep and Torren was gone. She looked around her quarters for Torren, but she could not find him. She then left her quarters angry and went to find Min'Jig or Din'Jig. When she found Min'Jig, she told him what had happened and that the entire space station should be searched.
"I want my son Sen'Quai returned to me," Lin'Jig shouted.
Min'Jig gave the order to search the entire space station. Lin'Jig wasted no time in joining the search and took a couple of men with her.
Fin'Jig and the others were almost to the jumper when red lights started flashing.
"We better hurry they know Torren has been taken," Fin'Jig said.
When they were so close to the jumper, Lin'Jig rounded the corner with 2 men behind her. Fin'Jig stayed well hidden.
"Grab my son and take the rest of them to a cell. I will personally deal with them all," Lin'Jig said.
"That's what you think," Teyla said in a loud voice, "He is my son not yours. I will fight you if I have to."
"Sen'Quai my son this woman is not your mother. I am. Guards grab my son and stun her. I shall torture her first. Say goodbye to your son you will never see him again," Lin'Jig said.
Teyla was about to say something, but smoke filled the air. Fin'Jig come out of hiding and told them in a low tone to follow her. They wasted no time in getting to the jumper. All that could be heard in the distance was Lin'Jig screaming. Once everyone was in the jumper and seated, Sheppard flew the jumper back to the Daedalus, but not before Fin'Jig opened the hanger bay doors.
"When we get back to your ship, I must contact my parents Kin'Jig and Ping'Qua. They must know what has been going on. They will want to deal with it personally," Fin'Jig said.
"I'll see to it that you can," Sheppard said to Fin'Jig, "By the way nice trick with the smoke."
Fin'Jig then told him thank you.
The Daedalus:
When the puddle jumper was back aboard the Daedalus, Sheppard took Fin'Jig to the bridge while Teyla took Torren to the infirmary to be checked out.
"Colonel this is Fin'Jig," Sheppard said, "I told her she could contact her parents once we were on board."
"It's very important that I do," Fin'Jig said, "There is a situation going on the space station that they need to be informed of."
Colonel Caldwell told an officer to help Fin'Jig in contacting her parents on the Lakeyin Homeworld. Once Fin'Jig was able to get hold of her parents, she explained the situation to them and they told her to come home and discuss the situation in person. She told them she would and ended the conversation.
She walked over to Caldwell and Sheppard and said, "Thank you for allowing me to contact my parents. Would it be possible for you to take me to my homeworld, so I may speak to my parents in person?"
The Lakeyin Homeworld:
Rather then beam down, Fin'Jig suggested the jumper, so Sheppard, Ronon, McKay and Fin'Jig went down to the planet in it and Teyla stayed on the Daedalus with Torren until she was needed. Fin'Jig told Sheppard he could land near the castle of sorts where her parents would be.
"This way," Fin'Jig said as they exited the jumper.
Fin'Jig led the way to the castle of sorts. When they got to the entrance, she told the guards she was there to see her parents. With that said, the doors opened and they were able to walk in. Once inside, she flagged down a person that was like the castle butler of sorts and asked him where her parents were.
"They are waiting for you in the meeting hall," the castle butler said.
Fin'Jig told him thank you and led the group to the meeting hall. Once in the meeting hall, Fin'Jig introduced the group to her parents.
"Welcome to the Lakeyin homeworld," Ping'Qua said, "Lakeya III."
"Now what is this urgent matter you wish to discuss?" Kin'Jig asked.
It involves Din'Jig, Min'Jig, Lin'Jig and Mar'Quai," Fin'Jig replied, "Lin'Jig had Teyla's son kidnapped, so she could have him for a son, but there is more to it then that. They have been getting help from another planet, so they could steal DNA and use that to make babies for the woman who can not have them. At one point, Lin'Jig kidnapped Teyla and locked her up in a cell. That was because she did not get her DNA made baby. I know all of this because Lin'Jig and the others used some type of mind control on me. This way they could have me do what they wanted me to do. It was only recently that I broke free."
"You should know if it weren't for Fin'Jig's help Teyla might not have been reunited with her son," Sheppard said, "Both are safe on our ship."
"You should know that some Lakeyin women can not have children because the baby dies in the process if being born," Ping'Qua said, "It does not make itself known until a woman experiences a baby having died as it's being born. Then they are tested for it and some test positive. Doctors have tried to find a cure or, at the very least, a treatment for it, but have not been successful."
"Maybe Carson and Dr. Cole could have a look and see if there is anything they can do," McKay said.
"You would be willing to have your doctors help out doctors?" Ping'Qua asked.
"It couldn't hurt to have a fresh pair of eyes take a look and we have some information from the planet DNA made babies took place. Maybe it may be of some use," Sheppard said and then he radioed the Daedalus to have them beam down Dr's Beckett and Cole as well as Teyla. He figured Fin'Jig's parents would want to meet Teyla and now seemed like a good time as any. Once the three of them had beamed down, Sheppard introduced them.
"Welcome to our planet," Ping'Qua said, "Teyla I am glad your child made it back to you safe and sound. You should know that my husband will have those involved punished for what they did."
"Indeed I will. Now if you will excuse me I have some punishments to take care of," Kin'Jig said and then he left the room.
Teyla told Ping'Qua thank you and then Ping'Qua said, "I know you wish to return to your son, so I will not keep you. It was nice to have met you."
Teyla was beamed back to the Daedalus.
"If we could be shown to the hospital where your doctors are at, Dr. Cole and I can get started," Beckett said.
"If everyone will follow me, I will show where it is," Ping'Qua said.
When they got to Lakeyin hospital, Ping'Qua informed the doctors working on the problem, which was the reason for DNA made babies. One of the doctors told Ping'Qua told he got sent some information on the DNA made babies from a colleague on the space station. Dr. Beckett and Dr. Cole said there hellos and then got right to work. Beckett asked McKay to help by going through the data that was sent to the one Lakeyin doctor.
"Ronon and I will take the jumper back to the Daedalus," Sheppard said, "I will beam down and check on you guys in a few hours."
Beckett and McKay acknowledged Sheppard and then got back to work as did Dr. Cole. With that said, Sheppard and Ronon left to head to the jumper.
The Daedalus:
When Sheppard and Ronon returned to the Daedalus via the jumper, Sheppard went to check on Teyla and Torren while Ronon went to the gym. Teyla carrying Torren, was coming out of the infirmary when Sheppard walked by.
"How is Torren?" Sheppard asked.
"He is fine," Teyla replied, "The doctors gave him a clean bill of health."
"That's good, " Sheppard said.
"I was on my way to the mess hall to get something to eat," Teyla said.
"I could hold him while you eat? Sheppard asked.
Teyla handed Torren to Sheppard and they headed to the mess hall.
The Lakeyin Homeworld:
It took some time, but McKay managed to get the data decrypted. He went through the data the best he could, because there was a bunch of medical jargon, but there was something that caught his eye. He called over Drs. Beckett and Cole and showed them the something that caught his eye. A few minutes later Sheppard beamed down to check on Beckett and the others.
"You'll want to see this," McKay said as he noticed that Sheppard had beamed down.
Sheppard walked over to McKay and asked him what he found.
"It's related to the whole DNA made babies thing," McKay said, "They used time travel. Well, a crude form."
"Which would explain the need for the medicine," Dr. Cole said and then she told McKay to scroll down to the section about the medicine that she and Beckett were shown moments ago. Dr. Cole then explained the medicine and time travel bit.
"That definitely explains a lot." Sheppard said, "Anything else I should know?"
"Nothing else at the moment," McKay replied.
"How's it coming with the other stuff?" Sheppard asked Beckett and Dr. Cole.
"Nothing yet," Beckett replied and then he got an idea.
"Well I'll leave you to it and check back in a few hours," Sheppard said, "Radio me sooner if you have something."
Sheppard then left and beamed back to the Daedalus while Beckett and Dr. Cole went to talk to the Lakeyin doctors. They spent the next 3 hours hard at work while McKay continued to go through the data. Sheppard did a brief check in with McKay, Beckett and Dr. Cole and McKay told him they were still hard at work. Beckett and Dr. Cole were so hard at work with the Lakeyin doctors, they hadn't realized that night had fallen on the planet, but that was ok because they had made a breakthrough. Sheppard had beamed down to do one of his checks.
"How are things going down here?" Sheppard asked McKay.
"The Lakeyins say we can have a copy of this data," McKay said, "as for Carson and Dr. Cole, they made some kind of breakthrough with the Lakeyin doctors. They've gone to try it out."
Radio me when they are done, so I can give Colonel Caldwell an update on when will be leaving," Sheppard said.
McKay told him he would and then Sheppard beamed back up to the Daedalus. About 2 hours later, Beckett and Dr. Cole returned with some of the Lakeyin doctors they had been working with.
"We can't thank you enough Doctors," a Lakeyin doctor said.
"Now there is no guarantee it will work on every woman who has the condition, but it should lessen the condition and one day make it a thing of the past," Beckett said, "Let's make some more and Dr. Cole and I can help you give the medicine to all women affected. You may wish to give it to all female who can have children and younger."
"We will leave the instructions on how to make it," Dr. Cole said, "and we will try and come back to check on your progress."
"We should start with all the pregnant women first and the we should be able to handle the rest," a Lakeyin doctor said.
McKay radioed Sheppard to let him know Beckett and Dr. Cole had returned. Sheppard asked McKay to found out how much more time they would be. Beckett told him he didn't know and McKay told Sheppard. Sheppard then told him he had an idea and that he would radio back.
The Daedalus:
Sheppard went to the bridge to talk to Colonel Caldwell.
"Colonel do you think you spare a few of your medical personal to help Beckett and Dr. Cole as they help administer medicine on the planet?" Sheppard asked.
Colonel Caldwell told him yes and then asked him if could drop the puddle jumper off at the nearest Stargate so his team minus McKay and Major Lorne's team's team could return to Atlantis, while Beckett and Dr. Cole continue to do their thing on the planet. Once he was done telling the idea to Colonel Caldwell, Caldwell radioed the infirmary while Sheppard went into the hallway to radio McKay. After McKay, Beckett and Dr. Cole were informed of the idea, Sheppard went to gather the rest of his team and Major Lorne and his team, so they could head to the jumper and prepare for the return to Atlantis. As soon as the medical personal were beamed down to the planet, Daedalus broke orbit and flew to the nearest Stargate. Once there, the hanger bay door opened and Sheppard flew the jumper to the Stargate and dialed the gate. After the jumper entered the Stargate and that Stargate shut off, the Daedalus flew back to the Lakeyin Homeworld.
Atlantis/Teyla's Quarters:
When the jumper returned to Atlantis, Teyla took Torren back to their quarters to bath, change and feed a snack to him, while Ronon and Sheppard went to the mess hall for something to eat. Each member of Major Lorne's team went back to their quarters after they put up their gear. Later the night after Sheppard had gotten ready for bed, he decided to check on Teyla, so he put on his slippers and bathrobe and left for Teyla's quarters. When the door chimed, Teyla opened the door and found Sheppard standing there so she let him in.
"I just thought I would check on you and Torren before I went to bed," Sheppard said.
"Thank you John," Teyla said, "Torren is sleeping peacefully in his bed as you can see."
"That's good, " Sheppard said, "How are holding up after all this?"
Teyla told him and then she started to cry, so Sheppard walked over to her and just held her. At one point, they looked at each other, and then he felt like he wanted to kiss, so he did, and just like the kiss on the cheek when Tabitha was alive, something gave him that feeling and told him to do it. After a while, Sheppard was about to tell Teyla good night, but Teyla asked him to stay. He was a bit surprised, but he told her sure. They sat down on her bed and he just held her. He heard Teyla yawn at some point and then got an idea, so he told Teyla. Teyla got into bed on left side, when looking at the bed from the foot of it, and Sheppard in the right. Teyla turned to lay on her side, so she could put her head on Sheppard's shoulder. When she did that, he put an arm around her and the two of them fell asleep. In the morning, Sheppard went back to his quarters to shower and get dressed, so he could meet Teyla and Torren for Breakfast. Sometime after breakfast, they found out the Daedalus had returned. Sheppard and Major Lorne's teams had their meeting with Woolsey along with Beckett and Dr. Cole. Woolsey then informed Sheppard's team that they would not be scheduled for any missions for the next day or 2 after what had happened. Sheppard told Teyla he would see her and Torren at lunch before he went about his daily duties on Atlantis.
The End
The End
