The Control Room:
"Are you sure about that?" O’Neill asked, "I mean a lot of people are going to have to sign nondisclosure papers."
"I know that," Carter said, "And yes I am sure."
"Then I’m ok will it," O’Neill said, "Actually I am more then ok with it."
"Since there will be no teams off-world I was thinking we could cover up the gate so no one will really know what it is," Carter said.
"I was thinking it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t invite Thor," O’Neill said, "He’s my buddy ya know."
"But he will have to watch from the briefing room," Carter said.
"That fine as long as he is there to see me marry the one I love," O’Neill said.
Carter smiled at O’Neill and then asked, "Have you decided on a best man?"
"I was thinking of Daniel and then Teal’c so I am going to make them both my best man," O’Neill said.
"Well it is only fair as I have three braids maids," Carter said.
"Now I forgot who is going to the flower girl and the ring bearer?" O’Neill asked.
"My niece and nephew," Carter said.
"Just checking," O’Neill said, "When is your dad coming?"
"The day before our wedding," Carter said.
General Hammond walked into the control room and said," Colonels."
"General," O’Neill said.
"Oh Colonel Carter I received a message from the Tok’ra. They just wanted to let you know your father will be arriving on time. They didn’t thing so at first but they know he wouldn’t miss his daughter’s wedding," Hammond said.
"Thanks for the message General," Carter said.
"If you will excuse us General we have some last minute things to take care of," said O’Neill.
"Sure I’ll see you tomorrow for your next mission briefing," Hammond said.
Carter and O’Neill left the control room to do last minute wedding things.
The Next Day in the Briefing Room:
"SG-4 found something that could be useful in defeating the Goa’uld. It’s crude but effective," Hammond said.
"What is it?" Carter asked.
"It is what we call laughing gas," Hammond said.
"Laughing gas?" O’Neill asked.
"I have never heard of anyone using that until now to kill the Goa’uld," Teal’c said.
"You are to go there and see what you can find out about this so-called laughing gas," Hammond said, "Get ready to leave in 20 minutes. If that is all you are dismissed."
SG-1 got up and left to get geared up for their mission.
The Gate Room (20 minutes later):
"SG-1 you have a go," Hammond said.
SG-1 walked up the ramp and entered the stargate. The next thing they knew was they woke up somewhere other then the planet.
Somewhere Other Then the Planet (a maze):
"Where are we?" O’Neill asked.
"It does not appear to be the planet," Teal’c said.
"Everyone alright?" O’Neill asked.
"Fine Sir," Carter said.
Daniel got up and said, "Well we did come through the stargate because there it is."
"Yeah but where is the DHD?" Carter asked.
"Maybe there is a secret panel to revel it," O’Neill said.
"I don’t think so Jack," Daniel said.
"And how would you know that?" O’Neill asked.
"From what I am able to decipher of this alien text there is something about a maze and that this stargate has no DHD which means that this has to be the start," Daniel said.
"So all we have to do is get to the end of the maze and hope there is a stargate with a DHD," Carter said.
"That’s exactly what is at the end of the maze," Daniel said.
"Is there a map somewhere?" O’Neill asked.
"Is this it O’Neill?" Teal’c asked.
"Daniel could this be a map of some sort?" O’Neill asked.
"From what I can tell it some kind of map but not any we are use to," Daniel said, "I can’t make any of it out so I don’t think it would be of any help to us."
"Well is there anything that would be of use to us on that map or the rest of the section?" O’Neill asked.
"There is one thing Jack," Daniel said.
"Like what?" O’Neill asked.
"There is what appears to be a compass but instead of the top direction being north it is west which could mean the finish of the maze is west," Daniel said.
"Which could mean Colonel all we have to do is make sure we go west," Carter said.
"Well then let’s do it," O’Neill said.
"Would we not need a compass?" Teal’c asked.
"A compass. Right. Thanks Teal’c," O’Neill said.
"Is this what you are looking for Sir?" Carter asked as she got a compass from her backpack.
"Good we have a compass now," O’Neill said, "Daniel anything else useful on these walls we could use before we head out."
"Nothing from what I could see. What about you Teal’c?" Daniel asked.
"Nothing Daniel Jackson," Teal’c said.
"Ok then grab your gear and lets go," O’Neill said.
"What I’d like to know is how we ended here instead of the planet SG-4 went to?" Carter asked.
"I think we would all like to know that Carter," O’Neill said.
"This is the first time I have seen a planet or moon excluding Earth that has more then one Stargate. Also one of the two having no DHD and used in the fashion of a maze," Carter said.
"What does the compass say?" O’Neill asked.
"When did the General say we had to be back to earth?" Daniel asked.
"He said in 3 days," Carter said, "We are going west."
"So all we have to do is make sure we go straight?" Daniel asked.
"No because we can turn left or right then we would be going straight," Carter said, "That way."
"So plain and simple west," O’Neill said.
"Yes Sir," Carter said.
They kept walking until they come to a section in which had three paths to choose from.
"Which one?" Daniel asked.
Well if we are suppose to keep going west then I say we go the middle path," O’Neill said.
"Not necessarily Sir we can go left or right and still head in a direction that would lead us back to west," Carter said.
"What if we went down the middle path. If it leads nowhere then we come back here and go left or right, " Daniel said.
"Then that’s what we’ll do then," O’Neill said.
Everyone was an agreement and SG-1 headed down the middle path.
Back at the SGC:
"General we have in-coming message from the planet SG-1 gated to," Sgt. Harriman said.
"Well patch it through," Hammond said.
Sgt. Harriman patched the message through.
"Hammond your SG-1 never made it to the planet," Jarith said, one of the people from the planet.
"Do you know where they might have gone to," Hammond said, "because we dialed correctly on this end."
"There’s a moon of our planet that has a maze," Jarith said, "But I don’t see how they could have ended up there."
"Can you find out how they ended up there?" Hammond asked.
"I will do everything I can to find that out. I will let you know when I have something," Jarith said.
"Ok, Hammond Out," Hammond said and then to Sgt. Harriman, "See what you can find out at this end, let me know the minute you find anything at this end and when we get a message from the other end."
"Yes, Sir," Sgt. Harriman said.
Hammond left and went to his office to wait for the return of SG-6 and SG-11.
Back in the Maze:
"Well this was no good we’re at a dead end," O’Neill said, "Now we’ll go back and try one of the other ways."
They went back the same way they came and then decided which path to try next.
"Left or right, Sir?" Carter asked.
"I don’t know. Teal’c and Daniel what do you think?" O’Neill asked.
"I say right," Daniel said.
"I agree O’Neill," Teal’c said.
"Carter?" O’Neill asked.
"Right," Carter said.
O’Neill and the rest of SG-1 start walking down the path to the right. After a while they come to a place where they had to decide what path to take this time they had only two choices left or right.
"Carter," O’Neill asked, "What direction are we going?"
"We are going east Sir," Carter said.
"O’Neill are we suppose to be going west?" Teal’c asked.
"Yes Teal’c we are suppose but I think if we keeping finding the right path that will led us to the end of the maze we won’t need to worry about going west until the end. If we are not going west then we can worry," O’Neill said.
"I say we go north which would be to our left then maybe somewhere along the way we will be going west," Carter said.
"Ok then lets move out," O’Neill said.
They headed down the left path and kept checking the direction even thou they had decided to wait until the end.
"Now what direction are we going Carter?" O’Neill asked.
"West Sir," Carter said.
They kept walking in the direction of west until they came to a place with one path to choose from. This path was going south.
"Ok let’s stop here and get some rest before we move on," O’Neill said, "Daniel you have first watch, then Teal’c, then me and the Carter."
Teal’c went to sleep then O’Neill got out his sleeping bag and went to sleep and Carter did the same. When Daniel was done with his watch, he woke up Teal’c. When everyone had rested, they got ready to get moving again. O’Neill made sure everyone had some rations eaten and then they made their way down the path going south.
"This is an easy maze," Daniel said, "There have been no dangers."
"We do not know that Daniel Jackson," Teal’c said, "Dangers may well lie ahead."
"What I would like to know is how long is this maze? It seems to go on forever," O’Neill said.
"We are headed back in the direction of west Colonel," Carter said.
"Jack look," Daniel said looking through some pillars on the north wall.
"Now the only problem is how do we get to that gate with the DHD," O’Neill said.
"Well we could keep going on the path we’re going on and maybe it well lead to a way in," Carter said.
"Do you agree Daniel and Teal’c?" O’Neill asked.
"I agree Jack," Daniel said.
"As do I O’Neill," Teal’c said.
They continued to walk down the path the seemed like it would never end. Finally they got to a section that zigzagged and then curved at the end of that.
"We are going east Sir," Carter said.
"That could mean when we face the gate we should be facing west," O’Neill said.
They kept walking the curve and straight path for the longest time. They finally got to what they wanted but there were some problems.
"There seems to be a force field in place and a door behind it. I will have to find a way to disable it and then find away to open the door," Carter said.
"Carter how long to think all that would take?" O’Neill asked.
"It’s hard to say Sir," Carter said, "but I’ll work as fast as I can."
"Couldn’t we just fire at it with a zat or Teal’c’s staff weapon?" Daniel asked.
"What would we fire at Daniel. I have yet to get a panel and even then I don’t think that would a good idea," Carter said.
"Why?" O’Neill asked.
"Well we don’t know what it will do. It could effect the panel beyond repair or even to the point where there would no way to shut off the force field," Carter said, "Possibly even no way to open the door."
"If we did that there would be no way to leave," O’Neill said, "Let’s start looking for a panel."
"What if there is no panel"" Daniel asked.
"Daniel I don’t want to think about that right now," O’Neill said, "All I want to think about is finding a panel or something of that nature."
"O’Neill," Teal’c said.
"What is it?" O’Neill asked.
"I think I have found something that may be of use," Teal’c said.
O’Neill walked over to where Teal’c was and said, "Daniel what do you make of this?"
Daniel walked over to O’Neill and Teal’c and said, "Give me some time and I’ll have something Jack."
"Ok. I’ll see if Carter has found anything," O’Neill said, "Teal’c keep a look out for anything unusual."
Teal’c did the usual head bow and then begin to stand guard.
Carter have you found anything yet?" O’Neill asked after he walked over to where Carter was looking.
"Nothing yet Colonel," Carter said, "Wait I think I may have found something."
"A panel?" O’Neill asked.
"Could be," Carter and then she tried to find a way to open it but she could not.
"Jack I think I have found something," Daniel said.
O’Neill walked over to Daniel and asked, "What did you find out?"
"Something that could be related to the panel Sam found," Daniel said.
"Maybe a way to open it?" O’Neill asked.
"Just let me translate some more and I’ll then let you know," Daniel said.
O’Neill sat down and waited for Daniel to translate more of the writing on the wall.
"As soon as we are done here and Carter has found a way to disable the force field and open the door, we’ll eat and rest by the gate. Then we’ll dial home," O’Neill said.
As Daniel was translating more of the text he came across something and said, "Jack I don’t think you’ll like one of the words here."
"What word will I not like?" O’Neill asked.
"Cometrya," Daniel said.
"That dump Harlan," O’Neill said.
"I don’t think he had anything to do with this Jack," Daniel said, "There is also something about how to open the panel."
"What do I have to do?" Carter asked.
"You have to say this Cometrya and repeat it, then Cometrya backwards twice then Cometrya again and lastly Cometrya backwards," Daniel said.
"All that just to open a panel. Well here it goes," Carter said as she stepped back and said what was needed to open the panel. After Carter said that the wall opened up to revel a panel with gems.
"Sir I have access to the panel," Carter said, "Daniel I’ll need your help over here. There is a text above the gems that might give some clue on how to work the panel."
"I’ll be right there," Daniel said.
"Now we’re getting somewhere," O’Neill said.
Daniel came to the panel by Carter and started to translate the text. When he was done, Carter tried various combinations of gems buttons until she found the one that would disable the force field.
O’Neill got up, walked over to Carter and asked, "How’s it coming?"
"Fine Sir," Carter said and the force field was disable, "Now for the door."
"I’ll go back to the other wall and see if there something about opening the door," Daniel said as he walked back to the other wall.
After an hour or so doing of doing more translating, Daniel found something about the door and he said, "I found something about opening the door."
"Good then how do we open it then Daniel," O’Neill said.
"There should be a panel near the door with a button on it," Daniel said, "All you do is press the button and the door should open."
O’Neill pressed the button and the door opened. Then he said, "Ok people gear up and let’s go."
SG-1 grabbed there gear and went through the doorway.
"Teal’c you take first watch, I’ll take the 2nd, Carter you will take 3rd and Daniel you 4th," O’Neill said, "After that we’ll dial the gate home."
Back at the SGC:
"I have found out how they could have ended up on the moon," Jarith said, " Once in a purple moon anyone trying to dial this planet ends up on the moon."
"Do you have a method to determine this purple moon?" Hammond asked.
"No this purple moon could happen at anytime but only once a year," Jarith said.
"Do you know anything about this maze?" Hammond asked.
"No All we know about the moon is that there is a maze," Jarith said, "and 2 Stargates."
"A Maze and 2 Stargates?" Hammond asked.
"There are some written records that say that," Jarith said.
"Do these records say anything else about the moon," Hammond asked.
"No not in the records we have found so far," Jarith said.
Back in the Maze:
Teal’c had woken up O’Neill for the next watch. Soon as O’Neill’s watch was over he had to wake Carter. He went over to where Carter was sleeping and said, "Carter wake up."
Carter began to wake up and said, "My watch already Sir."
O’Neill nodded yes.
Carter got up and began her watch as she did O’Neill went to sleep. Before she knew it her watch was over and she had to go wake up Daniel for his. She went over to Daniel and said, "Daniel wake up."
All Daniel did was stir in his sleep so Carter repeated it and he woke up.
"My watch already," Daniel said.
"Yes. Now make sure at the end of your watch you don’t go back to sleep and you wake us up," Carter said.
Daniel nodded yes before Carter went back to sleep. Soon his watch was over and he began to wake up everyone.
"Teal’c, Sam and Jack wake up," Daniel said and then everyone slowly began to wake up.
Teal’c asked, "Is something wrong Daniel Jackson?"
"No Teal’c. I told him to wake us up at the end of his watch," Carter said.
"Ok people make sure you have something to eat before we dial home," O’Neill said.
Everyone had something to eat and got their gear ready to go.
"Carter dial home," O’Neill said.
Carter dialed home then got out the GDO and punched in the code.
Back at the SGC:
"Hammond to the Control Room," said Sgt. Harriman over the P.A. system.
Hammond comes into the Control Room and asked, "What is Sgt. Harriman?"
"Unscheduled off-world activation Sir," Sgt. Harriman said, "Receiving IDC General. It’s SG-1."
"Open the Iris," Hammond said and Sgt. Harriman opened the Iris.
Back at the Maze:
"Carter just out of curiosity are we going west?" O’Neill asked.
"Yes," Carter said, "I checked during my watch. We can head through the gate Colonel."
"Ok People," O’Neill said and everyone made sure they had their gear and walked through the Stargate.
Back at the SGC:
Hammond walked down to the Gate Room when he saw SG-1 coming through the gate.
"What happened SG-1?" Hammond said.
"Can we tell you the whole story at the post mission briefing Sir?" O’Neill asked.
"Yes Colonel, " Hammond said.
SG-1 walked out of the Gate Room and down the corridor.
"Daniel, Teal’c and I will get poked and prodded by Dr. Frasier," O’Neill said, "and you can shower first?"
Carter headed to the women’s locker room to take a shower while Daniel and Teal’c and O’Neill when to the infirmary.
In the Infirmary:
"Doc we’ve come to get poked and prodded at first," O’Neill said.
"I’ll just be a second," Dr. Frasier said.
When Dr. Frasier was done poking and prodding Daniel, Teal’c and O’Neill, Carter came in.
"All done here," Dr. Frasier said.
Daniel, Teal’c and O’Neill left and headed to the men’s locker room.
"I’ll just be a minute Sam," Dr. Frasier said, "I want to make sure SG-6’s tests get to the lab."
In the Men’s Locker Room:
"So do you want Teal’c and I to take you somewhere tonight on your last night as a free man," Daniel said.
"Nope because I’m going to spent my night, watching hockey and The Simpsons. Oh and wrapping Sam’s birthday gift," O’Neill said.
"Boring," Daniel said.
Back in the Infirmary:
"So what are you going to do on your last night as a free woman?" Dr. Frasier.
"I don’t know. I’ll probably do some packing so I can have my clothes ready so Jack and I can leave right after the reception tomorrow," Carter said.
"So where are Jack and you going on your honeymoon?" Dr. Frasier asked.
"He wouldn’t tell me," Carter said, "He said it was a surprise."
A few minutes later Dr. Frasier said, "We’re all done here."
Carter got up and left to head to the Briefing Room.
The Briefing Room (sometime later):
"We should tell that race of people what we know about the maze and what we found," Daniel said.
"That is what I fully intend to do," Hammond said, "If there is nothing else then you’re dismissed."
"Lt. Colonel Carter your father will be arriving on within the hour," Sgt. Harriman said when came up the stairs that came from the Control Room.
"Thank you," Carter said.
"Colonel," Hammond said as he came out of his office glad he caught the Colonel before he left the briefing room.
"Yes General," O’Neill said.
"I got a call from the guards at the surface they say some people are here with chairs and such," said Hammond.
"They’re here to set up for the wedding," O’Neill said, "Carter informed you about that last week unless you forgot."
"I guess I did," Hammond said.
"Would you like me to send them down or wait until Jacob comes?" O’Neill asked.
"Tell them they can start making their way down here," Hammond said.
"Oh you don’t have to worry about them leaking anything because they are members of the other SG teams who volunteered to help set up the chairs and such," O’Neill said.
"Good," Hammond said.
O’Neill left to make his way to the surface.
In the Gate Room:
Carter waited in the Gate Room for her father and about 15 minutes later the gate became active. The Sgt. In the Control Room confirmed the IDC was Tok’ra so Lt. Colonel Carter told him he could open the Iris. When the Iris was open a figure came from the gate a few minutes later and it was Jacob Carter.
"Sam," Jacob Carter said as walked down the room.
"Hi Dad," Carter said.
When Jacob Carter got to the end of the ramp he set his bag down and gave his daughter a hug. They broke the hug and walked out of the Gate Room.
A Corridor:
"What I can’t believe," Jacob Carter said, "is that after tomorrow both my children will be married."
"Hard to believe?" Carter.
"Yes," Jacob Carter said, "Oh and tomorrow I would like to get some family pictures."
"Oh Mark called at the beginning of the week to tell me when his train would be getting in so when you’re changed into Earth attire and I have changed out of my work clothes we can head to the train station to pick him up," Carter said.
"Sounds like a good idea," Jacob, "So where’s Jack?"
"He’s somewhere around here," Carter said, "Oh your parents and mom’s parents will be coming with Mark."
"We’ll need Jack’s help in getting them to your house," said Jacob Carter.
"Yeah but that still won’t be enough," Carter said, "I’ll stop at Daniel’s lab and see if he would help. It’s a good thing I got some air beds."
"Have you figured out the sleeping arrangements?" Jacob Carter asked.
"Well your parents can sleep on the sofa- bed in the computer room, Mom’s parents in the guest, with Mark and his wife on an air bed in the guest room, on the couch will be you, with Mark’s kids on an air bed by the fireplace," Carter said, "I didn’t want to give up me bedroom."
"It’s going to be crowd there tonight," Jacob Carter said.
When they reached the locker room, Jacob Carter changed into Earth attire and Carter went to the women’s locker to change. When she was done, her father was waiting for her and she said, "I’ll talk to Daniel if you find Jack."
Jacob Carter nodded yes. Daniel agreed to help and went to the locker room to change clothes. Jack agreed to help too and went to change clothes. When they were all ready, they left for the train station.
The Train Station:
"How are we going to do this?" O’Neill asked.
"Well," Carter said, "Mom’s parents can ride with me. Dad your parents can ride with Jack and Mark, his wife and kids will have to ride with Daniel."
"How long will this take because I have to pick up my parents later?" O’Neill asked.
"This shouldn’t take that long," Carter said.
"Good," O’Neill said.
When the train, carrying the rest of Carter’s family that was coming to the wedding, came she gave them each a hug and told them whom they would be riding with. After that they headed to Carter’s house.
Carter’s House:
When everyone got there, they parked their vehicles and walked up to Carter’s house. Carter unlocked her front door and showed everyone in. She gave her relatives the sleeping arrangements and thanked Daniel for his help before he left. O’Neill walked over to Carter and said, "I’ll see you back at the base to help set up for the wedding after I pick up my parents from the airport."
"I’ll see you then," Carter said.
With that said, O’Neill gave Carter a quick kiss and left to go pick up his parents.
The Airport/O’Neill’s House:
When O’Neill got there, his parents’ plane had just landed and was about to un-board. When his parents got off the plane, they greeted O’Neill with a hug.
"Hi Mom. Hi Dad," O’Neill said, "We better get your bags. I have to help set up for the wedding and nothing has been done yet."
"Well then let’s go dear," Mrs. Annie O’Neill said.
"Your grandparents would have liked to come but because of their health they could not," Mr. Ryan O’Neill.
O’Neill and his parents headed to the airport baggage claim. Once there, O’Neill got his parents bags and they left the airport. When they go to O’Neill’s truck, his father said, "Here son let me help you with those."
"Thanks but I got it," O’Neill said, "One of you will have to sit in the back."
"I will let your mother sit up front. I’ll sit in the backseat," Ryan O’Neill said.
They got in the truck and headed to O’Neill’s house. When they go there, O’Neill parked his truck, got his parents bags and carried them to his front door. He unlocked his door and let his parents in.
"I’ll put your bags in the guest room," O'Neill said, "Make yourself at home."
O’Neill came back and asked, "You’ll be alright while I'm gone?’
"Yes now you go," said Annie O’Neill. O’Neill got out a piece of paper and pen to write his cell phone number on. Then he said as he handed the paper to his mother, "Here is my cell phone number in case you need it."
"Ok," Ryan O’Neill said.
O’Neill left and headed to the base.
In the Gate Room/Commissary:
"How do you want these chairs Colonel," Major Griff said.
"Well we can put some on either side of the ramp and then ones here facing the gate," O’Neill said pointed to the spot he mentioned.
"Oh I see what you mean now," Major Griff said.
As O’Neill was helping Major Griff, Carter walked in. O’Neill stopped what he was doing and walked over to her.
"I thought you would have been here by the time I got here but you weren’t," O’Neill said.
"I would have gotten here sooner but when you have a lot of relatives staying at your house," Carter said.
"I understand," O’Neill said, "Have you seen Sgt. Siler around? He was going to bring a ladder so the gate could get covered up."
"No I haven’t but I could go and find him?" Carter asked.
"Why don’t you," said O’Neill, "I’ll finish helping Major Griff with the chairs and then I will start putting decorations on the ramp."
Carter nodded yes before she went in search of Sgt. Siler. When the chairs and the decorations were done, Carter came back with Sgt. Siler and a ladder.
"Good now lets get the gate covered up," O’Neill said.
"This shouldn’t take long sir," Sgt. Siler said as he and Carter walked up the ramp with the ladder.
After the gate was covered up, O’Neill and Carter when to see how things were going in the commissary. Everything was set up nicely in the commissary.
Jonas, visiting from off-world, walked up to O’Neill and Carter and asked, "I hope you like the set up?"
"It’s nice," Carter said.
"I figured it would be best to do it this way so there is plenty of room for dancing and I put the DJ’s table over here," said Jonas pointing to the area he was referring to.
"Good thinking Jonas," O’Neill said.
"Thanks Colonel," Jonas said.
The Gate Room:
O’Neill and Carter were sitting down at the end of the ramp and talking.
"Look at how time flies," O’Neill said, "Earlier today we were coming back from a mission and now."
"And now we’re sitting here hours away from our wedding," Carter said.
"Hard to believe?" O’Neill asked as he put his arm around Carter and she put her head on his shoulder.
Carter closed her eyes for a second taking in the moment for as long as it would last knowing just before midnight they would leave each other until tomorrow.
"Hey don’t fall asleep on me," O’Neill said
"I’m not going to fall asleep on you," Carter said as she opened her eyes and was smiling, "I just had them closed so I could enjoy this moment better."
"You’ll enjoy tomorrow even better," O’Neill said.
"I think we better leave or we’ll get so caught up in this moment that it will be midnight before we know it," Carter said.
"Yeah you’re right," O’Neill said, "but I would still like to walk you to your car."
Carter got up and waited for O’Neill to get up. While she was waiting, she asked, "What are you waiting for handsome?
O’Neill got up and put an arm around her waist before the two of them walked out of the gate room. When they got to her car, he gave here a long kiss goodnight and told her he would see her tomorrow looking as beautiful as ever.
Carter’s Lab/Outside Carter’s Lab (the next day):
"You should have seen the breakfast I had this morning," Carter said.
"What did you have?" Dr. Frasier asked.
"Well I had pancakes that spelled out Happy Birthday Sam," Carter said, "At first I thought it was my father’s doing but it wasn’t because I asked him about it and he said Jack did it."
"How without seeing you?" Dr. Frasier asked.
"This is what my father told me," Carter said, "My father let him in the back door and while I was in the shower he made them and then left. I ate them after my shower. It was sweet of him to do that."
"He’ll probably be full of surprises today," Dr. Frasier said.
Cassandra was standing guard at the door in case O’Neill came around to see Carter.
"Jack," Cassandra said, "If you think I’m going to let you see Sam you’re wrong."
"I didn’t come here to try and do that," O’Neill said, "I would like you to give this gift to Sam. It’s her birthday gift. Can you do that for me."
"Yes I will," Cassandra said as she took the gift so she could give it to Carter.
"Thank you," O’Neill said before he left to go to the Gate Room.
After O’Neill was gone, Cassandra when into Carter’s Lab.
"Cassandra I thought you were watching the door?" Dr. Frasier asked.
"I was but you don’t have to worry about Jack," Cassandra said, "He was here and asked me to give you this gift Sam."
Carter took the gift Cassandra was handing her and opened it up. She then took the gift out of the box.
"I’m going to have to thank him later for this," Carter said holding up a bear with a shirt that said thinking of you and holding a balloon that said happy birthday.
"You forgot the card," Cassandra said.
Carter picked up the card, opened it and read it. Then she said, "This card and gift are sweet. I’m going to have to remember to tell Jack how sweet this is and how he seems to amaze me every time he gives me a gift."
"We’ll meet you down in the Gate Room," Dr. Frasier said.
Carter nodded yes and Dr. Frasier and Cassandra left the room as Jacob and Mark entered.
"You ready Sam?" Jacob asked.
"Yes," Carter said, "as ready as I’ll ever be."
"I can’t believe my sister is finally getting married," Mark said.
"Well believe it," Carter said.
The Gate Room:
While O’Neill was waiting for the wedding to start, he looked up at the window that was part of the briefing room to make sure his buddy Thor was there and Thor was. Someone motioned to the person at the piano to start playing the wedding march. O’Neill look at the right door or left depending on the way you would look at it and the bridesmaids started walking down the aisle. Next came the ringer bearer and the flower girl. Finally the bride and her father came through the door. O’Neill had his eyes glued on Carter the moment she came through the door. Once Carter and her father where at the top half of the ramp, he gave his daughter a kiss on the cheek and walked back down the ramp to his seat.
A little later in the ceremony the priest asked, "Who gives this bride away?"
"I do," Jacob Carter said as he stood up.
O’Neill and Carter said their I do’s and then it was time for the rings.
"Daniel. Teal’c. One of you ring now," O’Neill said in a whisper.
Daniel handed O’Neill the ring. Then O’Neill repeated the words the priest said as he put the ring on Carter’s finger. Then Carter did the same to O’Neill.
The priest then said, "By the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. You can kiss the bride now."
O’Neill did just that then Carter grabbed her bouquet from Cassandra and walked the ramp with O’Neill. Once out of the Gate Room O’Neill said, "I say we take the long way Sam."
"We have plenty of time for that later Jack," Carter said smiling.
"Darn you take all the fun out of it," O’Neill said grinning and frowning.
"Well we have to get pictures and I want to have time to get out of my dress so I don’t ruin it. It was my mother’s you know, Carter said.
"Ok then but first happy birthday," O’Neill and then he gave her a quick kiss before they headed to the commissary for the reception.
The Commissary:
"Sam," Jacob said.
Carter walked over to her father and asked, "What?"
"I thought we should get the pictures taken first," Jacob said.
"Ok. Sound good to you Jack?" Carter asked.
"Yeah that’s fine with me," O’Neill said.
During the picture taking, Jacob just stared at his daughter and started thinking about the day he married her mother.
"Dad," Carter said.
"What?" Jacob asked.
"You seemed a little out of it," Carter said.
"Well I was just thinking out your mother and how you look just like her, the day I married her, in her wedding dress," Jacob said.
Carter smiled sweetly at her father because of what he just said. After the pictures, Carter went and changed her clothes because she didn’t want to ruin her wedding dress. She came back in the commissary what she found waiting for her was lit candles on a birthday cake that said Happy Birthday Sam. Everyone began singing happy birthday to her then she blew out the candles and her father said, "Happy Birthday Sam."
"Thanks Dad," Carter said as she gave him a hug.
"Happy birthday Sis," Mark said.
"Thanks Mark," Carter said before she gave her brother a hug.
Her father gave her a birthday gift, she opened it up and afterwards she said, "Thank you. This is one of the best presents I have gotten."
What her father had gotten her was a framed family picture of when she was a baby and her brother was kid about 3. Everyone else gave her their birthday gifts they had for her and she opened them up. When she was done it was time for the first dance with the bride and groom. O’Neill motioned to Sgt. Siler, who was playing D.J. for the party, to start the music. The song that played first would be their wedding song. The song was, "Because You Love Me" by Jo Dee Messina. Carter and O’Neill walked over to the section of the commissary for dancing and held each other as they danced their first dance as husband and wife. When their dance was over, Carter danced with her father while O’Neill danced with his mother. Other people went on the dance floor and started dancing. After a bit more of dancing, O’Neill and Carter cut their wedding cake and then toasts we’re made. Carter threw her bouquet after picking it up off the table. Dr. Frasier caught it while and Daniel got the garter when O’Neill threw it.
"Carter if you will excuse me for a minute," O’Neill said.
Carter nodded yes. O’Neill left the commissary and went to his buddy Thor in the briefing room to see if he was ready for the next phase in his plan and Thor was. O’Neill then went back to the commissary.
"Sam do you have your bags ready?" O’Neill asked.
"Yes they’re in my lab," Carter said, "I can go get them if you’re in a big hurry to get to the honeymoon?"
"Yes I’m in a big hurry," O’Neill said.
"Here," Dr. Frasier said handing O’Neill a container, "Some birthday and wedding cake for you to take with."
O’Neill took it and said, "Thank you."
O’Neill and Carter said goodbye to everyone and left the commissary. They stopped at Carter’s lab and she grabbed her bags so they could leave for the honeymoon.
"I will meet you top-side as I would like to change out of these formal wear clothes I got on," O’Neill said.
Carter nodded yes and O’Neill gave her a quick kiss before he left.
SGC Parking Lot (a little later):
O’Neill walked to his truck to find Carter waiting for him.
"Looks like we got another gift," Carter said, "This one is from General Hammond, Daniel, Teal’c, my father and Janet."
"Bags of food. Good then we won’t have to go to the store when we get there," O’Neill said as he pulled out a radio out of his pocket.
Carter asked, "What’s with the radio?"
"You’ll find out Sam," O’Neill said grinning and now standing next to her and his truck. Then O’Neill spoke into the radio, "Teal’c tell Thor we’re ready and not to forget my truck."
The next thing O’Neill and Carter knew they were standing in front of his cabin with the truck.
O’Neill’s Cabin:
"So this where are honeymoon is," Carter said.
"Yes," O’Neill said, "I’ll take in the bags and food."
O’Neill took in the bags and the food and came back out to pick up Carter to carry her inside. Once inside, O’Neill set her down and then got a kiss from her.
"What’s that for?" O’Neill asked.
"The breakfast I had this morning, the birthday gift and card, and today in general," Carter said, "This is the best birthday I have had."
"Well you are more then welcome," O’Neill said, "Which bag was the cake in so I can put it in the fridge?"
"I’ll do it," Carter said.
"I’ll be waiting on the couch," O’Neill said, "My knee is acting up on me."
"I’ll be right there," Carter said smiling.
The End of Part 5.
