The Commissary:
Daniel, Lt. Colonel Carter, Colonel O’Neill and Teal’c were sitting in the commissary eating breakfast when an announcement came over the intercom system.
“Lt. Colonel Carter to the control,” someone over the intercom system said.
“Well if you will excuse me I am needed in the control room,” Carter said.
“Sure,” O’Neill said.
In the Control Room/Gate Room:
Lt. Colonel Carter entered the control room and asked, “What seems to be the problem?”
“Well a flash of blue light shimmered over the iris,” the sergeant said.
“Gen. Hammond to the control room,” the sergeant said over the intercom system.
Moments later Gen. Hammond came into the control room and asked, “What is it sergeant?”
“I’m receiving a SG-1 I.D.C. Sir,” the sergeant said.
“SG-1 one report to the control room,” Hammond said over the intercom system.
A few minutes later the rest of SG-1 entered the control room.
“Ok what’s going on I was about to have a second bowl of Froot Loops,” O’Neill said.
“Open the iris,” Hammond said.
In the gate room, guards were standing ready. When the iris was open, 5 people came through the gate and Gen. Hammond as while as SG-1 came down to the gate room.
“Who are you?” Gen. Hammond asked.
“We are SG-1,” Rya’c said.
“How can that be? SG-1 has not left this base,” Hammond asked.
“Oh no,” Jacob J. O’Neill said.
“What?” Rya’c asked.
“We have gone back in time,” said Jacob J. O’Neill.
“How?” Annie T. O’Neill asked.
“I don’t know,” Jacob J. O’Neill said.
“So what you are saying is you’re the future SG-1?” Hammond asked.
Rya’c nodded yes.
“Then follow me to the briefing room,” Hammond said.
The Briefing Room:
“I think what we tell you should be kept to a minimum,” Annie said.
“I agree,” Hammond said.
“I am head of SG-1,” Annie said, “Major Annie Tabitha O’Neill.
“I am Lt. Susan Samantha O’Neill,” Susan said.
“I am Rya’c,” Rya’c said.
“I’m Jacob Jonathan O’Neill,” Jacob said.
“3 O’Neill’s,” O’Neill said.
”And I’m Macy Jackson,” Macy said.
“Now that we know who you are,” Hammond said, “What were you doing before you came here?”
“The five of us were on our way to a planet. We were going to get some medicine we need in order to save-,” said Annie.
“Our twin brother and sister -,” said Susan moving near Annie and Jacob.
“They are sick,” said Jacob.
“We, instead of ending up on the planet, ended up here,” said Annie.
“You want us to help you find a way back,” said Hammond.
Annie nodded yes.
“If you will excuse me future SG-1 for a minute, SG-1 I would like to see you in my office,” said Hammond.
Hammond’s Office:
SG-1 followed Hammond into his office.
“We have to help them Sir,” Carter said.
“And we will Major,” Hammond said, “I want you to help them but don’t ask them about anything in the future. We don’t want to disrupt the future too much.”
“So we are helping them?” O’Neill asked.
“Yes,” said Hammond.
The Briefing Room:
SG-1 and Hammond returned to the briefing room and then Hammond said, “We will do our best to help you return to your time.”
“Thank you, Gen. Hammond,” Annie said.
Carter’s Lab:
Carter is sitting at her desk of sorts trying to figure out how to send the future SG-1 back to their place in the timeline, but she was having trouble. The she remember the solar flares but that was a problem because the next solar flare was not suppose to happen for a long time. There has to be another way Carter thought. She was interrupted by a knock on her lab door.
“Don’t scare me like that Colonel,” Carter said.
“Sorry Carter I thought you could use a cup of coffee,” O’Neill said.
“Thanks, Sir,” Carter said as she took the cup of coffee O’Neill was handing her.
“How are you coming on ideas to sent the future SG-1 back to their time?” O’Neill asked.
“I was thinking of that before you came in,” Carter said, “Some of the future SG-1 are coming here to help me.”
“Do you think that is wise?” O’Neill asked.
“I am not going to ask them anything about the future,” Carter said.
“Just wanted to make sure,” O’Neill said.
Outside the lab, Annie, Jacob and Susan walked towards the door to the lab and saw their parents talking. Susan decided to knock. Carter heard the knock and said, “Come in.”
“Have you had any success?” Jacob asked.
“No,” Carter said.
“Have you thought about solar flares?” Jacob asked.
“Yes but that is not in option,” Carter said.
Carter and Jacob started talking in astrophysics’ language and O’Neill could not take it anymore.
“I will see you later Carter. All this astrophysics’ language is making my head hurt,” O’Neill said.
“Can’t take it Sir?” Carter asked.
“No I can’t Carter. You understand that stuff Jacob?” O’Neill asked.
“Yes,” Jacob said, “I’m an astrophysicist.”
“Lovely something I’m going to look forward to in the future,” O’Neill said.
Carter smiled at O’Neill and he smiled back at her and then left the room. After O’Neill left the room, she when back to talking to Jacob.
The Commissary:
O’Neill figured there was nothing he could do to help so he went to the commissary to get some Jell-O. He got his Jell-O and sat at a table.
O’Neill looked up and asked, “Daniel what do you want?”
“Can you believe it we get to see abit of our future before it happens,” Daniel said.
“Yeah. That’s fine but I have already seen enough of my future to know I will love every moment,” O’Neill said.
“Let me guess the you and Sam part,” Daniel said.
“You bet," said O’Neill, “And you know when this is all over I‘m going to ask Sam to marry to me. I have the perfect ring on order. I had it custom made. Instead of the usually diamond most want in a ring, for that purpose, I had a small heart shaped emerald put on it. Then I am going put in a rose ring holder I bought from Wal-Mart.”
“Wow,” said Daniel.
“Wow is right,” said O’Neill, “Just keep it to yourself. I want it to be a surprise.”
“You got it,” Daniel said, "Besides I will probably forget it anyway.”
Carter’s Lab:
“We have to find some way to get back to the future,” Susan said, “Because if we don’t we may not even be born.”
“I think we will,” Annie said.
“Why?” Jacob asked.
“Because of the love our parents have for each other,” Annie said.
“That’s right,” Carter said, “And on another note I think I may have found something that may work. SG-5 found a time machine on their last mission.”
“Well let’s go,” Annie said.
“It’s not the simple,” Carter said.
“Why?” Susan asked.
“Well it will take about a day to retrieve it,” Carter said, “And about 2 to 3 days to hook it up to the Stargate.”
In General Hammond’s Office:
Lt. Colonel Carter walked into General Hammond’s office after she knocked.
“What is it Colonel?” Hammond asked.
“I found a way to return the future SG-1 back to their place in time,” Carter said.
“How?” asked Hammond.
“We need an SG team to go to the planet SG-5 was on for their last mission and retrieve the time machine they found there. That would take about one day and another 2-3 days to hook it up to the Stargate,” Carter said.
“Ok, tell Colonel O’Neill to have SG-1 geared up and ready in a half hour,” said Hammond.
Carter nodded yes.
A Hallway:
“Hey Daniel have you seen Colonel O’Neill?” Carter asked.
“Yeah. Jack’s in the commissary eating Jell-O,“ Daniel said
“Thanks,” Carter said as she headed to the commissary.
The Commissary:
Carter walked into the commissary and found the colonel sitting at a table.
“Sir, General Hammond asked me to tell you he wants SG-1 geared up and ready to go in 30 minutes,” Carter said.
“Why?” O’Neill asked.
“Well I found a way to send the future SG-1 back to their time,” Carter said, “But in order for it work I need to the time machine SG-5 found on their last mission.”
“Ok then I will see you in the gate,” O’Neill said as he left the commissary.
The Gate Room (about 30 minutes later):
“Sam how long did you say this was going take again?” Daniel asked.
“About a day,” Carter said, “Why?”
“No reason,” Daniel said.
“Chevron 7 locked,” the sergeant from the control room said and the gate opened.
SG-1 entered the Stargate.
On the Planet:
“According to SG-5’s report the time machine you need Carter should be over there,” O’Neill said as pointed to the direction has was talking about.
SG-1 headed to the area O’Neill pointed to. About a few hours later, they reached the area and Carter started checking out the time machine.
“There seems to be nothing wrong with the time machine from what I can see,” Carter said.
“Ok then lets grab it,” O’Neill said.
The four of them each grabbed hold of it and headed back to the gate. It took about an hour longer then it took them from the gate to the time machine. At the gate, one of them dialed home. When they returned to the SGC, they took the time machine to Carter’s lab.
“So what now,” Daniel said.
“I figure out how to hook it up to the Stargate,” Carter said.
“Let me guess you will need Jacob’s help,” O’Neill said.
“Possibly,” Carter said.
“I will send all of them your way Carter,” O’Neill said.
The Infirmary:
“Hello,” Dr. Frasier said, “Can I help you?”
“I am one of the future SG-1 members,” Macy said, “Macy Jackson.”
“Macy Jackson well it’s nice to meet you,” Dr. Frasier said.
“I can’t tell you much but I will tell you this,” Macy said, “You and Daniel Jackson are my parents or at least will be.”
“Well that is nice to know,” Dr. Frasier said.
Daniel walks into the infirmary and looks for Dr. Frasier. When he finds her he says, “Have you seen Macy. Never mind she is right here.”
“Is there a problem?” Macy asked.
“No but Sam has an idea on how to sent you and the others back to the future. The first step has been done but now she wants you and the others to help hook up the time machine to the Stargate,” Daniel said.
“Ok, I will head over to her lab and see what help I can be,” Macy said as she left.
“You know something Janet,” Daniel said.
“What?” Janet asked.
“From the very little I know about our future, I am beginning to like it more and more,” Daniel said.
“Good because I fell the same way,” Janet said.
Carter’s Lab:
“These buttons seem to be the ones used to type in the planet’s code,” Jacob said.
“There is something familiar with what is on these buttons,” Annie said.
“Yeah,” Susan said.
“I agree,” Rya’c said.
“Yeah,” Carter said, “They look like the symbols on the gate and on a DHD.”
“I say we type in Earth’s code,” Macy said.
Carter nodded yes and then she typed in the code for Earth but it didn’t work so she said, “Hmm something must be wrong because it didn’t work.”
“Try typing it in backwards,” Macy said before Carter typed in the code.
“Interesting. That worked but looks like it wants other code,” Carter said.
“Try the same code you typed in but only forwards,” Jacob said.
“Hmm that worked,” Carter said after she typed in the code.
“Now we need to find a way type in the year,” Annie said.
“That will probably be the hardest,” Jacob said.
“I agree,” Rya’c said, “Because I do not see any buttons with numbers.”
“We could try and find a hidden panel,” Jacob said, “Sometimes things like this have a hidden panel.”
“What’s this button for?” Annie asked.
“Press it and see what happens,” Susan said.
Annie pressed the button and a panel opened up.
“Ok if these are the numbers,” Susan said, “Then how do we now which is which.”
“I can go get Daniel if you like,” Macy said.
“You better because this right up his alley,” Carter said.
In Daniel’s Lab:
Daniel heard a knock at the door and said, “Come in.”
“We need your help with time machine. There are some symbols on it, but we don’t know what they mean,” said Macy.
“Tell Sam I’ll be right there Macy,” Daniel said.
Macy nodded yes before she left.
In Carter’s Lab:
O’Neill walked in to see how things were going and asked, “How are things going?”
“Well, we have some symbols that we have no clue as to what they mean, so Daniel is going take a look at them,” Carter said.
“I think I have seen those symbols before. One of the sergeants in the control room was messing with fonts and I remember seeing it as one of them. I could get Sergeant Harriman to come and look at it,” O’Neill said.
“Any help would be nice,” Carter said.
“I will go find him,” O’Neill said.
O’Neill left and went to find Sergeant Harriman. O’Neill found him in the control room.
The Control Room:
“Sergeant Harriman do you remember those fonts you were messing with the other day,” O’Neill said.
“Yeah,” Harriman said, “Why?”
“Well on this time machine Carter has in her lab there are some symbols that match one of the fonts you were messing with,” O’Neill said.
Sergeant Harriman brought up the fonts he was messing with the other day up on his computer. O’Neill looked at the one that matched the symbols.
“That one,” O’Neill said as he was pointing to the font that matched the symbols.
Sergeant Harriman got a disk and copied the font to onto it.
“Here you go Colonel,” Harriman said as he handed the disk to O’Neill, “I copied the font onto this disk. All you have to do is install the font on another computer.”
“Thanks,” O’Neill said as he took the disk and headed to Carter’s Lab.
In Carter’s Lab:
Daniel had come in a while ago and was trying to decipher the symbols on the hidden panel that was reveled some time ago. He was having trouble because it was unlike anything he had seen. O’Neill then walked in and said, “I found the font that matches those symbols. I have it here on this disk I have in my hand.”
Carter took the disk from O’Neill and put the disk in the disk drive. Then she installed the font. Once that was done, she went into Word and typed in 1-9 and 0. She copied that and pasted it below what she had typed then she changed the font to the one she had installed. She looked at the time machine and then back at the computer. They indeed did match.
“We have to hope the symbols match the same numbers as the font,” Carter said.
“The year we want is 2036,” Jacob said.
“I will type it in,” Rya’c said.
Rya’c typed the numbers looking at the computer to make sure he got it right and Annie said to Carter, “You are right.”
“The next step is to hook it up to the gate,” said Carter.
Rya’c, Daniel, O’Neill and Carter carried the time machine to gate room and the rest of them followed behind.
In the Gate Room:
When they got there Jacob asked, “How to you propose we hook it up to that gate?”
“I don’t know,” Carter said with a yawn.
“I think we should all get a little rest before we continue with this,” O’Neill said, “It will do no one any good if they’re tired.”
“I agree,” Annie said.
“I will go talk to General Hammond about getting all of you some quarters,” O’Neill said.
“Carter that means I want you to get some sleep,” said O’Neill, “Is that clear?”
“Yes, Sir,” said Carter.
O’Neill left to talk to General Hammond. An hour after he talked to Hammond and the future SG-1 had be given quarters, he decided to head to Carter’s lab. He figured she would go to her lab instead of sleeping.
In Carter’s Lab:
O’Neill stopped in the doorway of Carter’s lab and saw that she had fallen asleep. He went over to her and tapped her on the shoulder and said, “Carter.”
Carter woke up and saw Colonel O’Neill standing next to her.
“I thought I told you to get some sleep,” O’Neill said.
“I wanted to figure out how to hook the time machine up to the gate,” Carter said, “And I think have.”
“Now that you have done that you think you can get some sleep,” O’Neill said, “Do I need to make sure you get to your base quarters?”
“No, Sir I don’t think that will be necessary,” Carter said.
“Ok then,” O’Neill said, “But I would at least like to make sure you leave your lab.”
Carter saved what she was working on then left her lab. Shortly after she left, he left to get some sleep.
The Next Day in the Gate Room:
“Ok let’s begin the process of hooking up the time machine to the gate,” Carter said.
“But don’t we have to find a way to hook it up to the gate first,” Rya’c said.
“I think a may have found a way. I worked on it last night before I got some sleep,” Carter said.
“Well let’s try it,” Annie said.
“Well I figure all we have to do is hook it up the way we’d hook a DHD up to the gate,” Carter said.
“I will go tell General Hammond,” O’Neill said, “Before we go any further.”
O’Neill left the gate room and headed to General Hammond’s office.
In General Hammond’s Office:
O’Neill knocked on the door and Hammond said, “Come in. Colonel what can I do for you?”
“I thought you would like to know Carter has found a way to hook to the time machine to gate and is ready to hook it up. I thought you would like to know before we went any further,” O’Neill said.
“Ok,” said Hammond, “Let me know when you are ready to send them back.”
“Yes, Sir,” O’Neill said.
In the Gate Room:
O’Neill came back into the gate room and said, “General Hammond wants us to let him know when we are ready to sent them back.”
“Let’s hook it up,” Carter said.
Carter, Daniel, O’Neill and the future SG-1 hooked the time machine up to the Stargate and spend a few hours rechecking and double-checking to make sure it was hooked up properly.
“The time machine did something,” Susan said.
“It could have reset itself,” Annie said.
“Rya’c,” Carter said, “Do you remember what symbols you punched in?”
Rya’c nodded yes.
“Good because from the looks of it we are going to have to type in everything again,” Carter said.
“I better get General Hammond in case the gate becomes active because when you type in the stuff there is no telling what could happen now that it is hooked up to the gate,” O’Neill said, “And he did say to notify him when we were ready to send them back.”
“We will wait then Colonel,” Carter said.
O’Neill left and went to General Hammond’s office to notify Hammond of the situation.
General Hammond’s Office:
“We are ready to send them back to the future well almost anyway. Some stuff Carter and Rya’c punched in needs to be punched in again and we don’t know what will happen now that the time machine is hooked up to the gate,” O’Neill said.
“I will be there shortly after I take this phone call,” Hammond said as he answered his phone that was ringing.
O’Neill left and headed back to the gate room.
The Gate Room:
Carter looked up and saw General Hammond in the control room and knew to begin typing in the information. Then Rya’c typed in the numbers. and the Stargate the whooshed active.
“What now?” Daniel asked.
“It would be best if I sent a IDC through the gate to them so they know to open the iris,” Annie said as she sent the IDC.
The Future (2036) in the Control Room:
“General Hammond,” a sergeant at the dialing computers said.
“Open the iris and sent a message to them letting them know,” Hammond said.
The Present (2003) in the Gate Room:
“We can go the iris is opened,” Annie said really sure the time machine worked.
The future SG-1 grabbed their backpacks and took one last look around. Then they walked up the ramp and entered the gate.
The Future (2036) in the Gate Room:
The future SG-1 came through the gate. When they were all out, the gate became inactive and Annie looked up at General Tessa Hammond.
“Something happened General Hammond. I need to tell you quickly so you can send us back to the planet,” Annie said.
General Hammond came down to the gate room and the others told her what had happened. Once she had heard everything, she told the sergeant at the dialing computer to the dial the planet. Once the gate whooshed active they entered it. A few hours later they returned with the medicine they went to the planet for.
“We have the medicine General Hammond,” Susan said.
“Good take it to the infirmary,” Hammond said.
They took it to the infirmary and it was given to Ryan and Grace O’Neill.
The doctor came over to Sam and Jack and said, “They have been given the medicine and will be alright.”
Jack kissed Sam on the forehead and hugged her.
The Present (2003):
The time machine was unhooked from the gate and put in storage.
The Briefing Room:
“SG-1 you have the next two days off until Teal’c returns from his visit with son Rya’c,” Hammond said.
General Hammond dismissed them and they left the room. Just before O’Neill was out the door Daniel said, “Good luck with your plan Jack.”
“Thanks Daniel,” O’Neill said and then he left SG-1’s locker room.
O’Neill’s House (a few hours later):
O’Neill grabbed his coat and put it on. Just as he was about to grab the gift he had for Carter, his doorbell rang. When he opened the door he was surprised to find Carter standing there.
“I was just about to come over and get you,” O’Neill said.
“Well I saved you a trip,” Carter said as she gave O’Neill a quick kiss.
“Well would you like to go out and get a bit to eat?” O’Neill asked.
“Sure,” Carter said, “The we could go to Dairy Queen and get dessert. If that is alright?”
“That’s fine Carter,” O’Neill said, “But first I want to give you a gift I have for you.”
Carter nodded yes as she walked in and sat on his couch as O’Neill when to the gift that was on his kitchen table.
O’Neill came back, sat next to Carter handed her the gift and said, “Here you go Carter.”
“Thanks,” Carter said as she took the gift and then began to open it up. She pulled out the Styrofoam and asked, “What’s with Styrofoam?”
“Well what’s in there is breakable,” O’Neill said.
Carter then opened up the Styrofoam and found porcelain rose and said “Thank You.”
“That’s not all,” O’Neill said.
“There’s more,” Carter said.
“Yes,” O’Neill said, “Open the top of the rose.”
Carter opened the top of the rose and found a ring with a small heart shaped emerald in it and then asked, “Is this what I think it is?”
“Yes it is,” said O’Neill, “and for your information the rose is a ring holder.”
Carter didn’t know what to say and for the first time in a long while her heart and mind agreed so she said, “Yes.”
They smiled at each and embraced in a hug.
They broke the embrace after O’Neill said, “Hey do you want me to put the ring on your finger?”
Carter stuck out her left hand and O’Neill put the ring on her finger after taking it out of the rose ringer hold.
“So you ready to go out for that bit to eat,” O’Neill asked.
Carter nodded with another smile on her face.
“I have an idea. How about we stop off at your house and drop of the part of the gift you can’t wear so you won’t forget it,” O’Neill said.
“That would be a good idea but I don’t think I could forget it,” Carter said as she put the rose back in the in the box.
They headed out the door and O’Neill locked it. They made a stop at Carter’s place so she could drop off the rose ring holder.
At Carter’s Place:
“I’ll just be a second,” Carter said.
“I’ll be waiting,” O’Neill said.
Carter unbuckled her seatbelt, got out of the truck and headed towards her door. O’Neill watched her walk up to her front, unlocking the door and entering her house. Carter walked to her bedroom after having closing the front door and took the rose ring holder out of the box and Styrofoam. She set it next to her picture of O’Neill on her nightstand. Then walked back to her front door, locked it and headed back to O’Neill’s truck not knowing he was watching her every step of the way. She got back in the truck buckled her seatbelt and they were then off to get a bit to eat.
At the Base (the next day) General Hammond’s Office:
O’Neill knocked at the door and Hammond said, “Enter.”
O’Neill and Carter then walked into General Hammond’s office.
“Sir we have something we have to tell you,” Carter said.
“We’re engaged,” O’Neill said.
“Well congratulations,” Hammond said.
“General don’t worry this will still not effect our work in any way,” O’Neill said.
“No need to explain that. I know you will,” Hammond said, “If that’s all for now you are dismissed.”
Carter and O’Neill walked out of the General’s office and O’Neill asked,” Where to now?”
“The gate room,” Carter said, “My father is coming for a visit.”
“Oh yeah right. I forgot about that,” O’Neill said, “And that’s good because I want to ask him something.”
“About what?” Carter asked.
“You’ll find out later,” O’Neill said.
They finished making their way to the gate room and waited for Jacob to come. Once Jacob come through the stargate, he walked down the ramp and gave his daughter a hug.
“So anything new since I last visited?” Jacob Carter asked.
“Yes,” O’Neill said, “Sam you tell him I told my parents this morning.”
“Well Dad Jack and I are engaged,” Carter said.
“Well congratulations Sam,” Jacob Carter said.
“Jacob I want to run something by you before I run by Sam,” O’Neill said.
“If you will excuse me I need to run to my lab to pick up something,” Carter said.
After Carter left, he said what he wanted to say to Jacob
“That’s a good idea,” Jacob said, “Now if you will excuse me I will change into my earth attire. I will meet you and Sam at her lab when I’m done.”
O’Neill nodded yes as he left heading in the direction of Carter’s Lab.
Carter’s Lab:
O’Neill walked into Carter’s lab and said, “Your father said he would meet us here.”
“Now are you gong to tell me what you said to my father?” Carter asked.
O’Neill then told her what he told Jacob.
“I love it,” Carter said before she gave O’Neill a kiss.
Jacob Carter walked in and cleared his throat and then O’Neill and Carter broke the kiss.
“Ok,” O’Neill said, “I guess this means we are all ready to leave.”
The three of them then exited Carter’s lab.
The End of Part 4.
