Sure we can stick some free play in the RPG here and there. I don't mind doing that the because that's how I started role playing and the first Stargate SG-1 RPG I ran was sort of done that way. I originally started this RPG to sort of be free play but that was before it moved to this forum and I added an SG-1 one half to it. When I did another Stargate RPG that was run by someone else a plot line was needed and I was sort of using a little more of that in this RPG but I don't mind mixing both.
I'm thinking of make some changes to the plot list to add some free play plots. This is just one of the reasons I'm think of doing that:
If lets say, for example, I got enough players for one half and am still working on getting enough for the other half then the 1st plot could be a free play plot that would be a major crossover type plot. The episode it would be set after would depend on which half has more players. If it's SG-1 that has more players then the plot would be set after an episode after Flesh and Blood but before Bad Guys and act more like an SG-1 episode but if it's SGA then it would be set after some episode from this list: Phantoms, Echoes, Irresponsible, Tao of Rodney or The Game and would act like an SGA episode.
A major crossover would be like SG-1's The Pegasus Project and Part 2 of The Rouge Ancients Quadrilogy of this RPG and a minor crossover would be like SGA's Midway. In the case of a major crossover there would be one plot for both halves and for a minor crossover there would a plot for each half and the 1 or 2 characters that would be involved in the crossover would just be absent from the half their from.
Another reason for making some changes is there will be three plot opportunities on each half of the RPG to get made-up characters in the RPG. That and I have something planned for Carter, it well be reveled in Part 2 of The Rouge Ancients Quadrilogy, and the changes will give me a chance to use her a little more before she's stuck back at the SGC in her old lab which is one of the reasons for the plot in plot 6, formerly plot 4 which will be reveled when we get closer to that plot.
