A Planet:
After landing the jumper on the planet, since this planet’s stargate was in space, Sheppard’s team got out and looked around. They decided to spilt up, Dex with Sheppard and Teyla with McKay. After a few minutes of searching Dex thought he heard something behind some bushes and trees but he saw nothing. When he told Sheppard they radioed the others to let them know what happened and to their surprise the same thing happened to McKay. Whatever the noise was they hoped it didn’t pose a threat. Dex heard the noise again but before he could say anything to Sheppard, Sheppard disappeared. He radioed McKay and McKay had something interesting to report as well.
“Well Sheppard’s not over here,” McKay said, “and I have no idea where Teyla is. She disappeared right after I heard the noise again.”
“Which means that noise has to be something or Sheppard and Teyla would still be here,” Dex said.
“Right I’ll meet you back at the jumper,” McKay said.
When McKay met Dex back at the jumper, there was one small problem the jumper was clocked and Sheppard was the one with the hand held device so McKay did the one think he could think of. He picked up a stick and used it to find the entrance to the jumper. When he found it he entered the jumper and uncloaked it.
Dex asked when he entered the jumper, “Didn’t Sheppard tell you to shut the door before we left?”
“I don’t think he’ll care that I forgot,” McKay replied, “If it means finding him and Teyla.”
An Alien Building:
Sheppard awoke to find himself in a room with 2 beds, a table and chairs and something that could pass for a sofa but that was not all there was also 2 doors. One he assumed led out of this room but he was not sure about the other one. He even saw a small window so he got up and went to the window. It might tell him where he was but all he saw was a river with several bridges and that didn’t help much. Sheppard was just about to turn around went heard the door knob on one of the doors turn. He quickly laid back down on the bed and acted like he was asleep. When the door opened 3 figures appeared and on of them was Teyla’s. The other two walked away and closed the door after pushing Teyla into the room. She fell to the floor before Sheppard made his way over to her. When he did, he looked down at her and was going to ask her if she was alright, but she looked like she was asleep and whatever they did to her must have put her to sleep, so he picked her up and laid her down on the other bed. Sheppard was about to lay down on the empty bed but heard Teyla wake up.
“Teyla are you alright?” Sheppard asked waking back over to her.
“I think so,” Teyla replied sitting up, “How did we get here?”
“I have no idea,” Sheppard replied, “What did they want with you?”
“I do not know,” Teyla replied.
“Well whatever they did to you they must have put you to sleep or done something to you,” Sheppard said, “so you wouldn’t know what they did to you.”
“Why us,” Teyla asked, “and what happened to Dr. McKay and Ronon?”
The only answer that Sheppard had for Teyla was I don’t know.
The Puddle Jumper/Weir’s Office:
McKay dialed Atlantis and once his IDC had been cleared the jumper entered the Gate. Once on the other side and the jumper in the bay, he and Dex went straight to Weir’s office to explain what happened back on the planet.
“Do you know when Sheppard and Teyla went missing?” Weir asked.
“Well I heard this noise twice so did McKay,” Dex replied to Weir, “and the second time when I turned around to tell Sheppard he was gone.”
“When I was about to ask Teyla the second time if she heard the noise,” McKay said, “she was gone.”
“Ok,” Weir said, “Do you know why anyone would want Sheppard and Teyla but not the two of you?”
“There could be any number of reasons,” McKay replied, “There was that one time Sheppard and I were captured because we have the Ancient Gene.”
“If that were the case then they would have taken you,” Weir said.
“Yes, but Sheppard didn’t need gene therapy like I did,” McKay said.
“If that’s why they want Sheppard,” Dex said, “then why take Teyla too?”
“Well Teyla does have some Wraith DNA,” Weir said.
“If that’s the case then,” Dex said, “Then we need to go back to the planet and find them.”
“I want you to take Sgt. Stackhouse’s team with you,” Weir said, “and take Miller with you as well.”
Back on the Alien Planet in the Alien Building:
Sheppard and Teyla heard someone coming and quickly laid down on the beds and acted like they were asleep. This time the aliens wanted Sheppard but for what would still remain a mystery for now. Soon after the aliens took Sheppard they returned for Teyla. When Sheppard woke, after he was returned, he searched the room for Teyla and he didn’t see her but he did see something on the table that wasn’t there before. It was their gear but what aliens would just leave this alone. Usually aliens take this stuff away when they capture someone to prevent escape but Sheppard guessed these aliens didn’t care what happened which would mean they must have what they want but what. He wondered what they could be doing to Teyla. Sheppard heard a noise at the door but before he could lay down on one of the beds and pretend to be asleep the door opened and two figures pushed Teyla into the room. This time Sheppard was able to catch her before she fell. The door closed and shortly afterwards Teyla awoke.
“Are you alright?” Sheppard asked.
“I am fine,” Teyla replied, “What did they do to you?”
“I don’t have a clue,” Sheppard replied, “but when I woke up here you weren’t in the room which means they must have taken you again sometime after me. Whatever they want they must have it because out gear is in the table and it wasn’t before.”
In the Jumper:
Miller landed the jumper while McKay, Dex and Sgt. Stackhouse discussed a plan for finding Sheppard and Teyla. They decided Miller should stay with the jumper incase they needed to contact Atlantis. They divided into 3 teams with Stackhouse, McKay and Dex leading them. After an hour’s worth of searching, they still hadn’t found any sign of them but they weren’t giving up hope.
Dex radioed McKay and Stackhouse to say he was going to try and radio them and see what happened.
The Alien Building:
Sheppard was talking to Teyla when he heard a voice coming from one of the radios. He went over to the table and picked it up. “Ronon is that you.”
“Yes,” Dex said, “Where are you and Teyla?”
“We’re in some kind of alien building surrounded by a river with bridges,” Sheppard said, “We’re alright but we have no idea what they did to us.”
“We think we might know,” Dex said.
But before Sheppard could answer he heard someone coming so he went to radio silence. The person coming came to deliver a meal to Sheppard and Teyla. When the person left he continued his conversation with Dex. Before Sheppard could find out what Dex had to say his radio stopped working.
“Just great,” Sheppard said, “my radio stopped working.”
Teyla could tell that Sheppard was upset about the radio but there must be something more.
“Apparently Ronon thinks he might know why we were taken but he didn’t get the chance to tell me,” Sheppard said.
The Alien Planet near the Jumper:
Dex radioed McKay to let him know he lost the connection with Sheppard.
“Did you get the chance to tell him what we found out?” McKay asked over the radio.
Dex told him no.
The Alien Building:
Sheppard and Teyla were eating the food that had been brought for them earlier and they heard someone outside the door talking to someone else.
“It will be nightfall soon make sure you lock all the doors on this floor before you turn in,” someone said.
“Aye boss,” someone else said.
Teyla and Sheppard heard the door to their room lock.
“Great now how are we going to get out of here,” Sheppard whispered to Teyla.
“We simply wait for the door to be unlocked,” Teyla whispered.
“Who knows when that will be,” Sheppard whispered.
It wasn’t until early afternoon, 2 days later, the door was unlocked. Sheppard and Teyla were going to try and escape but they heard some one coming down the hallway and then open the door. That was the last thing they heard until they woke up and heard a baby crying. Sheppard was going to say something to Teyla but instead gave her a confused look.
The Alien Planet near the Jumper:
Dex said, “Maybe we should try the radios again they might be working now.”
“What makes you think they are working now. They weren’t the last 4 times we tried,” McKay said.
Dex didn’t listen to McKay and instead tried to radio Sheppard and Teyla again. He proved McKay wrong and was able to radio Sheppard and Teyla but not for long. When he reached Sheppard he asked him, “What was that noise?”
Before Sheppard could reply McKay came on the radio, “We don’t know how long the radios are going to work this time, so we have to tell you why we think you and Teyla were taken. We think they took you for your -.”
Before McKay could finish his sentence the radio stopped working again but not before he heard a noise of a baby crying.
“Oh no,” McKay said, “That must be why they want them for their DNA.”
Dex asked, “What did they want the DNA for?”
“You said you heard a noise in the background,” McKay said, “What did it sound like?”
Dex told him and then said, “You think that’s why they wanted Sheppard and Teyla’s DNA.”
“Exactly,” McKay said, “but the problem is we have no way to tell Sheppard and Teyla that with radios down.”
The Alien Building:
Sheppard muttered something to himself and almost threw his radio halfway across the room but Teyla stopped him.
“McKay was just about to tell me why he thinks we were taken but the radios stopped working again,” Sheppard said.
“You don’t think the baby is the reason they took us?” Teyla asked.
“If it is then we have to get the baby out of here,” Sheppard said.
Sheppard and Teyla heard voices coming from outside of the room so the moved closer to the door to listen to the voices better.
“We have to go into hiding,” someone said.
“But what about the babies who still need doses,” the other one said.
“Start with the bottom floors then if there is time take the babies on this floor, these ones need only one more dose, and get them into hiding,” someone said.
An hour passed and no one came to the room so it was safe to assume that they ran out of time. It was good news for Sheppard and Teyla because they could escape undetected.
“Grab the baby and I’ll grab the gear,” Sheppard said.
Teyla didn’t argue and grabbed the baby. Sheppard found a way to pry the door open and once the door was open they made a break for the jumper.
The Alien Planet near the Jumper:
Dex was about to do something when Sheppard came over the radio, “How far are you from the bridge?”
Before Dex could reply McKay said, “Hold your position we’ll come to you.”
In the Jumper:
As Sheppard and Teyla entered the jumper McKay noticed Teyla holding something and he said, “I was right.”
“Right about what?” Sheppard asked.
“We think the aliens wanted you for your DNA,” McKay replied.
“You think,” Sheppard said.
“But we won’t know for sure until we get back to Atlantis and get it confirmed,” McKay said.
Atlantis’ Infirmary:
Once back at Atlantis, Sheppard and Teyla took the baby straight to the Infirmary for confirmation. Beckett was waiting for them as he had already been informed of the situation. Beckett told them what he was going to do and that once he was done they should have the results very soon. Once the results were in. Beckett walked over to Teyla and Sheppard to tell them.
“Well I have the results,” Beckett said, “and they confirm that she is your daughter and that the samples of your DNA were taken but I would like to run body scans on both of you as a precaution.”
“Understood Doctor Beckett,” Teyla said.
Teyla went first and the doctor couldn’t find anything wrong with her but did find something interesting that he didn’t notice earlier. He decided to wait until he scanned Sheppard to tell them. Once he did scan Sheppard he found something else out so he got ready to tell them.
“I found something out with the scans I didn’t notice before,” Beckett said, “Somehow the baby has the same amount of Wraith DNA that Teyla has and 90% of the amount of Ancient Gene Sheppard has.”
“Is that even possible?” Sheppard asked, “Shouldn’t she have only some of the Ancient Gene from me and some of Teyla’s Wraith DNA?”
Beckett replied, “As far as I know, it’s not possible and you are right she should only have some of the Ancient Gene and some Wraith DNA, but one thing I know for sure is she has the exact amounts of human and Athosian that she’s suppose to have.”
“I have another question,” Sheppard said, “Do you know how they created her in such a short time because I thought it took nine months.”
“The DNA didn’t give any clues and I could run some other tests but there’s a possibility they would not help either,” Beckett replied, “I don’t know how they created her in that short time. They did a pretty good job of hiding anything that might lead to someone figuring out their process.”
“What do you recommend Teyla and I feed her?” Sheppard asked.
“Give me a few minutes and I’ll come up with a list of things to get you started,” Beckett replied before he walked over to his desk.
“So I guess we should talk about this then,” Sheppard said to Teyla when Beckett was out of ear shot.
“Yes, we should,” Teyla said.
“First off I think we should give her a name,” Sheppard said, “What about Tabitha Charin Emmagan Sheppard?”
“I would like that,” Teyla said, “I know neither of us expected this to happen but it did and now are lives are going to be changed.”
“I imagined it happening differently,” Sheppard said, “not like this. We should talk about living arrangements so Tabitha gets equal time with both of us.”
“We could take turns with Tabitha at night,” Teyla said looking down at Tabitha.
“She’ll need a bed to sleep in,” Sheppard said, “not to mention other things.”
“I will ask one of my people,” Teyla said, “and see what they have.”
“Do you want to take her tonight or should I?” Sheppard asked.
“You take her,” Teyla said, “but I’ll stop by to see her before I turn in for the night.”
“I just wanted to say that deep down I’m angry about what those aliens did to us,” Sheppard said a minute before Beckett came back.
“I have the list,” Beckett said as handed it to Sheppard, “If you have any questions you know where to find me.”
Beckett then headed back to his desk.
“We should probably get some food for Tabitha,” Teyla said right at the same time Tabitha started crying.
Sheppard picked her up and Teyla looked over the list.
In The Control Room:
“Sheppard asked me on the way back to dial the Stargate back to the planet but,” McKay said to Dr. Weir, “We’ve had no luck so far. We’re going to keep dialing until we can get a lock.”
“Did he tell you why?” Weir asked McKay.
McKay nodded no but said, “It was important."
Weir debated radioing Sheppard or waiting until later. She decided to wait because Sheppard won’t authorize it unless it was important.
Sheppard’s Quarters:
Sheppard sat on his couch holding Tabitha waiting for Teyla to return with supplies for Tabitha from her people. He looked down at Tabitha and just watched her sleep. Then the next thing he heard was his door chime. He looked down at Tabitha to find her still asleep so he must have only been asleep for a short time. The door chimed again and Sheppard yawned before saying, “Come in.”
The door slide open and Teyla walked in.
“Sorry I didn’t answer the door sooner,” Sheppard said, “but I was a sleep.”
“No need to apologize,” Teyla said as she walked over to Sheppard, “How was Tabitha while I was with my people.”
Just before Sheppard could say anything to Teyla, Tabitha woke up and began to cry. He then got up and handed her to Teyla. Shortly after Teyla began holding her she stopped crying.
“I guess she missed you,” Sheppard said.
Teyla nodded in agreement and said, “I was able to get some supplies from my people. They are at my quarters.”
“Good because I think she needs to be changed,” Sheppard said.
Teyla’s quarters that night:
“I have an idea,” Sheppard said, “Why don’t you take her for the night.”
“Are you sure?” Teyla asked.
Sheppard nodded yes and said, “You have the bed for her and besides that she had a nap with me.”
Teyla walked over to the bed that Tabitha was laying in and picked her up.
Sheppard looked at his watch and said, “It’s getting late I better go.”
Teyla walked over to him and he kissed Tabitha good night on the forehead then to Teyla surprise he kissed her on the cheek before leaving the room for the night. Sheppard didn’t know why he did it but something told him to do it.
The Mess Hall:
The next day Sheppard met Teyla and Tabitha for breakfast in the Mess Hall.
Sheppard said to Teyla, “Last night after I left I came up with an idea. If we move Tabitha’s bed into my quarters and then when it’s your turn to take Tabitha. I’ll sleep on my couch and you can sleep in my bed. It’s the least I can do at night so Tabitha gets plenty of time with both of us.”
“I’ll bring the bed and supplies tonight,” Teyla said agreeing that it was a good idea.
Sheppard’s Quarters (the next day at night):
Sheppard was making his bed up on the couch when he heard his door chime. He said enter and Teyla walked in with Tabitha and her pillow and blanket. Sheppard stopped what he was doing and walked over to Teyla to grab Tabitha. Teyla walked over to the bed and asked, “Are you sure you don’t want me to sleep on the couch?”
“I’m sure,” Sheppard replied as he put Tabitha in her bed and covered her up, “Any aches or pains that I get are worth it if it means Tabitha gets both of us every other night.”
Teyla got comfortable on the bed and Sheppard walked over to the couch after turning off the light.
A few nights later Sheppard was trying to get Tabitha to go to sleep before Teyla got there.
“I’m going to tell you something that you can’t tell your mother,” Sheppard said, “I know your probably wondering what’s going with your mother and I well I’ll tell you. One day there will be something more between us, I hope, and one day I’ll ask your mother to marry me but right now I’m just going to take it one day at a time. I care about her so much that I don’t want to ruin the chance I have with her.”
He knew Tabitha wouldn’t say anything she was just a baby after all. What could she do try and play matchmaker. At the moment the door chimed, Tabitha yawned and fell asleep. Sheppard let Teyla in and asked, “Would you like to put Tabitha to bed?”
The Control Room:
A couple more weeks went by and McKay was still having no luck connecting to the Stargate until now when he got an all to brief connection. He radioed Sheppard and told him to come to the control room.
“I take it this is good news,” Weir said as she walked past the control room and saw the look on McKay’s face.
“Yes it is,” McKay said, “but I’m waiting until Sheppard gets here.”
In Sheppard’s Quarters:
Sheppard told McKay he would be there as soon as Teyla got to his quarters. When she got there he handed Tabitha to her and said, “I’ve been called to the control room. It shouldn’t take more then a few minutes.”
Tabitha started to cry at the very moment Sheppard started to head out the door. Teyla tried to clam her but she wouldn’t stop crying.
“Tabitha your father will be right back,” Teyla said, “He’s only going to be gone for a few minutes.”
Back in the Control Room:
“What do you want to see me about Rodney?” Sheppard asked.
“I wanted to let you know that I was able to make an all but very brief connection to the Stargate near the planet,” McKay replied.
“And you couldn’t tell me this over the radio?” Sheppard asked,
McKay nodded no then Sheppard asked if there was anything more and McKay nodded no.
“Next time let me know when it’s a real connection,” Sheppard said before he left the control room.
Sheppard’s Quarters:
Teyla tried everything she could think of to get Tabitha to stop crying but she would not stop. Sheppard walked in and Teyla said, “She will not stop crying.”
“Here give her to me,” Sheppard said, “I have an idea.”
Teyla handed Tabitha to him and he told her to lie down on the bed get comfortable. When she did he handed Tabitha to her and said, “This worked for me the other night. Just make sure her head is near your heart.”
Once Teyla had Tabitha that way, she look at her to find that she was no longer crying and was asleep.
In the Control Room:
A couple of days went by and McKay couldn’t get a lock even another brief one until he got a lock that would last long enough for a puddle jumper to get through. He had to tell Sheppard right away so he radioed him and asked him to come to the control room. Sheppard said he would once Teyla got there but only after he asked McKay if this was a real connection.
Sheppard walked in about 10 minutes later and asked, “What’s this all about?”
“Let me show you,” McKay replied as he dialed the Gate.
“Well that’s good news,” Sheppard said.
In Sheppard’s Quarters:
Teyla was about to put Tabitha to bed when she noticed that Tabitha felt warm, so she radioed Dr. Beckett and he said that she should bring Tabitha to the Infirmary. Tabitha started to cry the minute Teyla got off the radio with Beckett. She tried everything she could think of short of doing what Sheppard showed her the other night.
“Tabitha why won’t you be quiet?” Teyla asked Tabitha as she grabbed Tabitha’s blanket. She felt Tabitha’s face and she felt warmer then before so she radioed Sheppard. “John you may want to meet me in the Infirmary. Tabitha is not well.”
“I’m on my way,” Sheppard said over the radio.
Teyla headed out the door and straight to the Infirmary.
The Infirmary:
Teyla walked in with Tabitha and Dr. Beckett walked over to her.
“Set her over here I’ll run a body scan on her once I examine her,” Beckett said.
Halfway through the examination Sheppard walked in and asked, “What’s wrong with Tabitha?”
“Doctor Beckett will let us know when he finds out,” Teyla said.
Before Doctor Beckett ran a body scan on Tabitha, he took some blood so he could run a blood test but he didn’t think that would help because he hadn’t found any answers yet but hoped the body scan would. Doctor Beckett prepared to run the body scan and what he found out didn’t bring him any closer to finding out what was making Tabitha sick. This was going to take him all night. He looked at Teyla and Sheppard and said, “I can’t find anything wrong with her yet but I’d like to keep her overnight and run some more tests. The best thing right now is to wait for the results of the blood test. If you have any questions until then I’ll be in my office seeing what else I can come up.”
Once Sheppard and Teyla got the results of the blood test, Beckett said to them, “The blood test revealed nothing new. I’m going to do everything I can to find out what is wrong with her. I’ll have a nurse bring by some cool water and a cloth to try and help cool her down.”
“There is no need for both of us to stay the night,” Teyla said, “I will stay with Tabitha.”
“Radio me the minute you have anything,” Sheppard said and then told her he would return with some things for Tabitha.
Teyla told him she would before he left.
Sheppard’s Quarters:
Sheppard tried to sleep but he couldn’t and he even tried doing a Sudoku puzzle but his mind kept wandering. He eventually did fall asleep for a few hours but when he woke up he couldn’t get back to sleep, so he went back to the Infirmary.
The Infirmary:
When Sheppard walked in, he saw Teyla asleep with Tabitha and he watched them sleep for a few moments before Doctor Beckett walked over to him.
“Colonel,” Beckett said, “I ran some more tests on Tabitha but they revealed nothing either. Whatever the aliens did they did a good job of hiding whatever made her sick.”
“I remember hearing something that an alien said,” Sheppard said, “It was something to do with one more dose. I have no idea what that means.”
“They must have been giving her something to keep her alive and whatever it was must have required a certain number of doses to keep a baby alive for the rest of their lives,” Beckett said.
“Does this mean she is going to die without that one remaining dose?” Sheppard asked.
“It’s possible,” Beckett replied.
Teyla woke up and looked down at Tabitha but she was not breathing so she yelled, “Doctor.”
Doctor Beckett ran over to Teyla and asked her what was wrong.
“It’s Tabitha. She is not breathing,” Teyla replied.
Teyla got up and off the bed and Doctor Beckett tried everything he could but then called time of death. He walked over to Teyla and Sheppard and was about to say something. Teyla turned around to see that Sheppard was halfway out of the Infirmary running somewhere.
“Teyla I could perform an autopsy on Tabitha maybe it would reveal the cause of death?” Beckett asked.
“Do it,” Teyla said replied before running after Sheppard.
Jumper Bay:
Sheppard ran into a puddle jumper, sat down and began pressing buttons. Then he heard someone shout his name from the back of the puddle jumper. He turned around to see who it was.
“Teyla don’t try and stop me,” Sheppard said as he turned back around to face the controls.
Teyla radioed the Control Room and told them to disable the gate. When Sheppard tried to dial the Gate he couldn’t.
The next thing Sheppard knew was Weir had come over the radio and told him to report to her office immediately.
Weir’s Office:
“Is this why you had Rodney dialing the Gate?” Weir asked.
Sheppard avoided her question and instead said angrily, “I have to go back to the planet to stop them from doing what they are doing. My daughter is dead because of them.”
Doctor Beckett come over the radio and said, “Colonel Sheppard and Teyla to the Infirmary.”
Weir didn’t know what to say or do. She couldn’t obviously let Sheppard get his revenge so she said, “No, unless you can find a better reason to go back to the planet.”
Sheppard didn’t ask Weir if she was finished talking to him he just left and went to the Infirmary.
The Infirmary:
“I found something interesting in the autopsy,” Beckett said to Teyla as Sheppard walked in.
“What is this about?” Sheppard asked Beckett.
“I ran an autopsy on Tabitha and found something in her that I didn’t pick up when she was alive or rather it didn’t show up on scanners until now,” Beckett said, “It’s a trace of an unknown element. I believe that could very well be what was keeping her alive but I don’t know for sure.”
“Would it help if you had samples,” Sheppard asked.
“It might,” Beckett replied.
Sheppard radioed Weir to tell her he had a better reason and hoped Weir would let him go. She told him she would think about it and that she would get back to him. When Weir did get back to him, she told him he and his team could go.
In The Jumper Bay:
Sheppard walked into the puddle jumper with a small pack of C-4.
“What’s that for?” Ronon asked Sheppard.
He didn’t answer Ronon and sat down in the pilot’s chair once he put the C-4 down. “Everybody ready?”
Teyla sat in the chair behind Sheppard while Ronon and McKay sat in the opposite side.
The Planet:
“This is odd,” McKay said, “It might explain why I was unable to connect to this Gate.”
“What is it?” Ronon asked.
“I’m reading no life signs,” McKay said.
“Let’s hope we can still get what we need,” Sheppard said as he set the jumper down in a grassy area behind the alien building.
Once the jumper landed, they set out towards the building in search of the samples they came to get for Dr. Beckett. Sheppard made sure he had the C-4 for his plan. Once they found a room that looked like it had what they wanted, they began searching the room for it.
“Rodney can you tell me what these machines are for?” Sheppard asked.
“Just give me a minute,” McKay replied as he analyzed machines.
Ronon saw a doorway to a smaller room and went to check it out. In the room, he noticed some tables and cabinets or at least what he thought were cabinets. When he opened one of them up a very small blast of cold air came at him.
“Sheppard you may want to see this,” Ronon said when he saw what was in the cabinet.
Sheppard walked into the room to see what Ronon saw and started reading the labels on the small canisters until he came upon two that read Human with Ancient Gene and Athosian with some Wraith DNA. He grabbed those two and put them in the sample case for Dr. Beckett to look at. Sheppard then started walking back to the other room.
“Are you almost done Rodney,” Sheppard asked, “I need you to run a scan for an unknown element.”
“Just give me another minute,” McKay replied.
“Make sure you got some scans and pictures for Dr. Beckett to look at,” Sheppard said.
A minute later McKay said, “It seems as if the machines were used for some medical purpose. I’m sorry I can’t tell you more. I’ll start scanning for the unknown element.”
It took about a half an hour for McKay to pick something on his scans. “I picking up something from down the hallway we passed to get here.”
Sheppard and his team walked out of the room to get closer to what they were looking for but not before he left a few C-4 attached to the rooms with the DNA and machines. When they got about halfway down the hallway, the readings for the element became stronger.
“The readings seem to be coming from that room,” McKay said pointing to the room on the left.
When they entered the room, there was no type of light anywhere except for a small lamp in a corner of the room diagonal from the doorway. It was a good thing the lamp worked or they won’t be able to see what they were looking for. Sheppard set the sample case down on the table he saw in the middle of the room.
“The readings are coming from that drawer,” McKay said as he pointed to one on the far left of the room.
Sheppard walked over to the drawer McKay was pointing at and opened it slowly. When the drawer was completely open a very small blast of cold air came out. What Sheppard saw in the drawer was small flasks of some kind of liquid. Sheppard had McKay scan the flasks just to make sure it was what they were looking for before he grabbed a few flasks. When it was confirmed that it was the unknown element, Sheppard put the small flasks in the sample case.
“Ok we got what we need,” Sheppard said, “Let’s head back to the jumper.”
After everyone left the room, Sheppard attached a couple of C-4s to the drawer and left with the sample case in hand. When they were about 12 feet away from the doorway where the machines were he pressed the switch for the C-4.
“What was that?” Ronon asked.
“That sounded like C-4,” McKay said.
Ronon turned and looked at Sheppard. Then Teyla looked at him and asked, “So this is why you wanted to come back here?”
Yes was all he could say to Teyla before continuing to make his way back to the jumper. He had a reason for doing what he had just done and Teyla was pretty sure she knew what that reason was. Once they made it back to the jumper and everyone was seated, Sheppard headed back for the Stargate but not before firing a few shots at the section of the building they had been in.
Atlantis' Infirmary:
Sheppard walked into the Infirmary and found Dr. Beckett in his office.
“Doctor,” Sheppard said, “We got the samples of the unknown element and we happen to find out where they were storing the DNA so we grabbed what they had of my DNA and Teyla’s.”
“I will look them over,” Beckett said.
“Oh and Rodney has some scans and pictures of some of the machines we found. All he could find out was they had some medical purpose. He says he’ll bring them by later.”
“Colonel what would you like me to do with Tabitha’s body?” Beckett asked.
Sheppard told Beckett what he could do with her body and something else.
“I’ll let you know when it’s ready,” Beckett said.
Sheppard told Beckett he would come back then and went off to find Teyla so he could tell her his plan. Some time past and Dr. Beckett radioed him. He went to the Infirmary to pick them up. He stopped at his quarters first before meeting Teyla in the jumper.
Old Athos:
Sheppard landed the clocked jumper near the spot Teyla wanted to have Tabitha’s ashes spread on. They got out and walked over to the spot. Sheppard let Teyla spread Tabitha’s ashes since she choice the spot and he came up with the idea of doing this. He took a few steps beck to let Teyla have a moment after the ashes were spread. When she was done, she headed back to the jumper and Sheppard took a quick moment before heading back himself. Neither one of them said anything on the way back to Atlantis nor did they say anything on the way there. They would talk about it when they were both ready.
Sheppard’s Quarters/The Gym:
Sheppard was in his quarters gathering up Tabitha’s things and stopped what he was doing. He threw the blanket he was folding into the baby bed and grabbed his gym bag with his bantos rods in it and headed to the gym. When he got there he excepted to find it empty but it wasn’t because Teyla was there.
When Teyla saw Sheppard she said, “I will leave.”
“Before you leave would you care to spar?” Sheppard asked.
Teyla set her bag back down on the window seat and got out her bantos rods. Sheppard set his bag there too and got out his rods. After about 10 minutes of sparring, Teyla fell to her knees and started crying. Sheppard didn’t know what to do. He could leave but that to him seemed wrong, so he did the next thing that came to mind. He knelt down next to her setting aside his rods before grabbing hers and setting them aside. Then he grabbed her and held her rocking back and forth ever so slightly. This was not like Teyla Sheppard thought but neither of them were themselves since Tabitha died. He was just glad he had not seen anyone on his way here because that meant Teyla could take as long as she needed.
The End
The End
