Carter’s House (3 weeks from part 2):
“Sam wake up,” O’Neill said as he put his cell phone back on Carter’s end table and then looked at her sleeping form curled up in his arms.
“What?” Carter asked with yawn and still have asleep.
“SG-1’s downtime has been cut by one day. Daniel called me on my cell phone and told me,” O’Neill said.
“So I guess we have to get up and go to work,” Carter said.
“Nope we don’t have to be to work until tomorrow,” O’Neill said.
“Good then I can go back to sleep,” Carter said.
“Darn,” O’Neill said.
“Why?” Carter asked.
“Because I thought I could take you to breakfast,” O’Neill said.
“Ok, then I’ll get up,” Carter said.
“No. Lets stay this way for a while long,” O’Neill said.
“Oh so like being stretched out on my couch,” Carter said.
“Yes, well any couch as long as you’re in my arms,” O’Neill said.
Carter stared at O’Neill’s face smiling and blushing. O’Neill saw her and gave her a kiss.
“What I think is if we don’t get up now we may end up falling back to sleep,” Carter said as she got up, “I will get showered and dressed then we can go over to your place so you can do the same. Just don’t go back to sleep ok?”
“I won’t Carter,” O’Neill said.
“You better not,” Carter said.
“Don’t forget we promised Daniel, Janet and Teal’c we would go miniature golfing this afternoon,” O’Neill said.
“Ok,” Carter said as she headed to the bathroom.
Miniature Golf Course (afternoon):
“Ok this is impossible there is no way Teal’c can get two hole-in-ones in a row,” Daniel said.
“Well, Daniel you didn’t do so good on the one with the windmill,” Janet said.
“I never get par or less on that one,” Daniel said.
“Ah hole 10,” Jack said, “Par is 3.”
“I say we go bowling tonight,” Daniel said, “I am a little better at that.”
O’Neill nodded yes to Daniel.
“Jack,” Carter said after she took her turn.
“What?” O’Neill asked.
“I thought we were going out to dinner,” Carter said.
“Well I have a better idea next downtime I will take you up to my cabin in Minnesota where there will be you, me, my cabin and everything around the cabin,” O’Neill said, “Like the idea?”
“Definitely,” Carter said as she gave him a quick kiss.
“Hey you two lovebirds break it up,” Janet said.
“Oh my turn already?” O’Neill asked.
“Yes,” Daniel said.
O’Neill took his turn and then said, “Ah ha! Beat that Daniel.”
“Well I will say this between Teal’c’s two hole-in-ones and O’Neill’s hole in one. I know I am going to lose,” Daniel said.
“No you won’t,” Janet said as she gave Daniel a kiss on the cheek.
Teal’c said just before he took his turn, “So close Daniel Jackson.”
“Ha, Teal’c. Your ball bounced right out of the hole,” Daniel said.
Carter got her golf ball in the hole with par, Janet made it the hole with 4 and Teal’c managed a 4 but Daniel had gotten a 2.
At Carter’s front door (that night):
“Good night Sam,” O’Neill said.
“Good night Jack,” Carter said as O’Neill started to walk back to his truck, “Hey didn’t you forget something?”
“You are right,” O’Neill said as he walked back to her front door then grabbed her and gave her a long passionate kiss good night, “That should hold us until after the next mission.”
“Well it’s going to have to,” Carter said, “See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow Carter,” O’Neill said and then he gave Sam another kiss before heading back to his truck.
With that said Carter closed and locked her front door before heading for her bedroom.
SGC’s Briefing Room (the next day):
Daniel, Jack and Teal’c were talking about the miniature golf and bowling games they played yesterday. When Colonel Carter and General Hammond entered the room, Daniel couldn’t stop laughing.
“You should have seen it General,” Daniel said laughing but he could not finish the sentence.
“Seen what?” Hammond asked.
“Teal’c won miniature golf but Daniel beat him in bowling,” O’Neill said, “The funny part is Teal’c got the most gutter balls last night but managed two hole-in-ones in a row early yesterday.”
“You had to be there,” Daniel said.
“I guess I did,” Hammond said, “Now for why your downtime was cut. The next mission you were going on has been bumped up to now. SG-8 found the Takareins have a ritual they be going through all of next week and during that time no off world visitors are allowed on the planet. The mission should only take a few days. You are there to explore their culture and see what they are like.”
“But didn’t SG-8 do that,” Daniel said.
“Some what,” Hammond said.
“Then why do we have to go there,” O’Neill said.
“They have asked for help in finding some people in the main city that appear to be against the main religion,” Hammond said.
“So a group who goes against the major religion,” Daniel said.
“Yes,” Hammond said, “Prepare to leave in one hour. Dismissed.”
The Colonel left and headed to the commissary for some Jell-O or Fruit Loops.
In the Commissary:
“Jell-O,” O’Neill said.
“Sorry Colonel we’re out,” the kitchen lady said.
“Ok, then Fruit Loops,” O’Neill said.
“Sorry again Colonel,” the kitchen lady said.
“Darn,” O’Neill said and then remembered the box he had in his locker so he headed to the locker room to get it. On his way out of the commissary he bumped into Carter, “If you are looking for Jell-O don’t bother to ask they’re out.”
“So did you get your Fruit Loops?” Carter asked.
“No, they were out of those too,” O’Neill said.
“Did you have your Fruit Loops this morning?” Carter asked.
“Yes I did. I was just looking for some I could take on this mission,” O’Neill said.
“You’re not going to get angry on this mission because you don’t have any with you?” Carter asked.
“I won’t because I remembered the box in my locker which is what I was heading to get before I bumped into you,” O’Neill said.
“Ok then. See you in the gate room Sir,” Carter said.
In the Gate Room (about an hour later):
“Chevron 5 engaged,” the sergeant said, “Chevron 6 engaged. Chevron 7 locked.”
“Here we go on this pointless mission,” O’Neill said as he walked up the ramp with rest of SG-1.
On the Planet:
Once on the other side of the gate, Daniel asked, “What now?”
“We follow the directions SG-8 gave us for the main city,” Carter said.
They followed the directions and made their way to the main city. When they did get there they were greeted by one of the Takareins.
“Welcome to our fair city. We are the Takareins,” one of the Takareins said.
“We are SG-1 and here to help you. I’m Colonel O’Neill,” O’Neill said, “This is Colonel Sam Carter. Over there is Teal’c and to my left is Daniel Jackson.”
“How long are you here to help us,” one of the Takareins said.
“We are here for about 3 days,” Daniel said.
“Then you will need a place to stay,” one of the Takareins said.
“No we have tents in which we can set up camp,” Carter said.
“Nonsense,” one of the Takareins said, “We have a visitor’s cabin which is for off-worlds visitors. I will take you there.”
“Ok,“ O’Neill said.
“Sir,” Carter said.
“Look it would help our mission if we stay in the cabin. Then we can keep a close on eye on the people,” O’Neill said.
“I agree O’Neill,” Teal’c said.
O’Neill then asked Daniel if he agreed and he did.
“Then it’s settled,” O’Neill said, “Lets go.”
The four followed the Takarein to the visitor’s cabin. Once there the Takarein said, “There are four cots, a fireplace, and a table with benches. The leaders of our city have dinner in the dinning hall. We would be honored if you would join us.”
“So I take it you are one of the leaders,” Daniel said.
“Yes I am and I forgot to mention that my name is Darin,” Darin said.
“We would be honored. The food and drinks won’t have an effect on us will they,” O’Neill asked.
“No they won’t. Your SG-8 team had them tested by someone of your world,” Darin said.
“Ah Dr. Frasier,” Daniel said.
“If you will excuse me I must get ready for dinner,” Darin said.
O’Neill nodded yes.
“Oh, someone will be by if not me to show you where the dining hall is,” Darin said as she left.
Teal’c looked out the back window minutes after Darin left and said, “Colonel O’Neill, Colonel Carter and Daniel Jackson you may want to take a look at this.”
“What is it?” O’Neill asked as he walked over to the window.
“They all seem to be meditating in some unusual way,” Daniel said.
“Oh there’s Darin,” Carter said.
“Maybe it’s a pre dinner ritual,” O’Neill said.
“That would be most likely,” Daniel said.
“In the meantime I think I will munch on some Fruit Loops,” O’Neill said.
“Can’t you go one mission without bringing Fruit Loops?” Daniel asked.
“Only if I have to,” O’Neill said.
“You know he did not even have them for breakfast yesterday,” Carter said.
“I wonder why,” Daniel said.
“It’s none of your business Daniel,” O’Neill said.
An hour later Darin come back to take SG-1 to the dining hall.
In the Dining Hall:
“So what’s for dinner?” O’Neill asked.
“Corn pudding, fried taka bird eggs, taka bird soup, fresh greens, blurb juice, pickles and fresh cake bread and for dessert apple pie,” Darin said.
“Corn pudding, pickles and apple pie,” Daniel said, “Those are foods from are world.”
“Yes they are, according to what SG-8 said and they are common on out planet as well,” Darin said.
“I have one question. What is blurb juice?” Carter asked.
“Juice from a large blue fruit on our world that is called a blurb. A blurb is about the size of an apple,” Darin said.
“Shall we sit?” one of the other Takarein leaders asked.
“Yes. You four can sit here,” Darin pointing to four chairs at the right end of the table said.
After dinner Darin asked SG-1 to say behind because she wanted to tell them something without the other leaders around.
“Someone in the city is part of the group that goes against the major religion,” Darin said.
“What is the major religion?” Daniel asked.
“The major religion is we believe in many gods but don’t think Thor is evil. The group known as the evilers or evil group, which ever you prefer, they think Thor is evil and worship him as evil. They also abandoned all the other gods and have their own known as fog gods. They wear a marking on the arm to symbolize they’re apart from the major religion,” said Darin.
“So someone in the city has the marking. They would probably be the only ones wearing clothes with long sleeves all the time,” Daniel said.
“Yes you are probably right,” Darin said.
“I only saw one person wearing long sleeves other then us excluding you because you have short sleeves Darin,” Teal’c said.
“You are right about that,” Darin said.
“Do you know what is name is?” Carter asked.
“His name is Jeron,” said Darin.
“Then we should kept a close eye on him then,” O’Neill said.
“I would agree Colonel O’Neill,” Teal’c said.
O’Neill asked Carter and Daniel if they agreed and they nodded yes.
“Do you know where he stays?” O’Neill asked.
“No he leaves the city at sunset,” Darin said, “and returns at sunrise.”
“When is sunset?” Daniel asked.
“In 3 hours,” Darin said looking at the Takarein clock on the wall.
“What if someone were to follow him and see where he heads,” O’Neill said.
“That would be a good idea,” Darin said, “You have to make sure you are not followed.”
“We’ll go back to the visitor’s cabin and see what kind of plan we can come up with,” O’Neill said.
When the got back to the visitor’s cabin, they decided who would follow Jeron and Teal’c said he’d go so Darin showed him to the edge of the city. Teal’c hid behind a tree so he wouldn’t be noticed and Darin headed back to the center of the city.
The Visitor’s Cabin (2 hours later)/Outside the city:
“I will take first watch if you two want to get some rest when it gets dark,” O’Neill said.
“One good thing about this is,” Daniel said, “We don’t have to eat field rations.”
Carter nodded in agreement with what Daniel had just said.
About a minute before sunset Teal’c had saw Jeron leaving the city so he followed him without making his presence known. When Teal’c got further away from the city he saw Jeron enter fog. Teal’c entered the fog but then realized it was too thick to see anything so he exited the fog and headed back to the city to give Colonel O’Neill a report on what he found out. Teal’c opened the door to the visitor’s cabin when he got there.
“Did you find anything out?” O’Neill asked.
“Indeed I did O’Neill,” Teal’c said, “Where Jeron headed was into very thick fog. Too thick for anyone to see anything.”
“Well at least we know that much,” O’Neill said.
“Where are the others?” Teal’c asked.
“They are in the back sleeping on the cots,” O’Neill said.
“If you like I can take watch now so you can get some rest as well,” Teal’c said.
O’Neill nodded yes then walked back to where the cots were and when he got there he muttered to himself, “Daniel why didn’t you take the cot next to Carter.”
He thought about moving the backpacks off the other cot but he was too tired to do it so he took the one next to the Carter. He rather sleep near her off-duty then at least he could have her in his arms after have fallen asleep from watching a movie or some TV and he doesn’t have the heart to wake her. He laid down on the cot facing her so he could watch her sleep and 5 minutes later he fell asleep. The next thing he knew it was morning. He woke up and one of his teammates was sitting at the table eating breakfast.
“Where are Teal’c and Daniel?” O’Neill asked.
“They’re still sleeping,” Carter said.
“I take it you had the last watch,” O’Neill said.
Carter nodded yes.
“Where did the breakfast come from,” O’Neill asked.
“Darin brought it for us to eat,” Carter said.
“That was nice. I will go wake the others,” O’Neill said.
After O’Neill woke up his teammates, he headed to the table but by the time he got there he had to sit on the bench next to Carter. He tried on missions not to sit next to her or sleep near her unless he had to because he didn’t want to let his feelings disrupt their work mode.
“I think we should inform Darin about what you found out Teal’c,” O’Neill said.
They finished there breakfast and then headed out the door to find Darin. They asked around and finally found out were Darin was. They headed straight to her office of sorts to tell her what they found out.
Darin’s Office:
“Darin we’ve found out something you might like to know. Teal’c,” O’Neill said.
“I followed Jeron until he got to the fog. I entered the fog but it was too thick to see anything,” Teal’c said.
“We have a fog shield you can use. It is the only piece of technology we have,” Darin said.
“A fog shield?” Daniel asked.
“I will show what it is and tell you how it works,” Darin said as she got up from her seat and went to the other side of the room to open a trunk, which had the fog shields in it. She held it up and said, “This is what it looks like. A bracelet like object, which has buttons that can be pressed in many combinations. It will work if you wear it under the sleeve but you don’t have to wear it that way. The way it works is it forms a shield around you so you can see some of the area covered by the fog but you can only see a short distance around you. We are trying to prefect it so that it work for greater distances.”
“Maybe I could follow Jeron again only this time taking one of those fog shields with me,” Teal’c said.
“I like to go as well,” Daniel said, “Because I would like to see if this fog is of importance to Evilers. If it is then maybe we can find a way to lift it and that will reveal their hideout so to speak.”
“Good thinking Daniel,” O’Neill said.
“Should I start thinking of a way to lift the fog if what Daniel says is true?” Carter asked.
O’Neill nodded yes.
The Visitor’s Cabin (that night):
“Here are the fog shields,” Darin said as she handed one to Teal’c and one to Daniel.
Daniel and Teal’c took them and put them on their arm.
“What now?” Daniel asked.
“I will show you how to turn them on,” Darin said and then she showed them how.
“I believe we should go,” Teal’c said, “We don’t want to miss our window of opportunity.”
“Your right,” Darin said.
Darin, Teal’c and Daniel left the cabin and headed to the edge of town while Carter and O’Neill stayed behind.
“I think Daniel is begging for trouble,” O’Neill said.
“Why, Sir?” Carter asked.
“I’ll tell you why when this mission is over with,” O’Neill said.
Outside the City:
Teal’c and Daniel made their way to the fog. Once they were near the fog they turned on the shields and entered the fog. They followed Jeron every step of the way and when they finally cleared the fog they turned off the shields then quickly hid behind a tree.
A group of people where chanting, “Crooked are the winds of thee. Thy Evil Thor brings more fog. The sacrifice we have made to the Kemdral has pleased thy Evil Thor and the fog gods. Crooked are the winds of thee.”
Everyone knelt down in the front of a small stone alter in the front of the fog chanting, “Crooked are the winds of thee. It gives us great pleasure to serve thy Evil Thor and the fog gods. Crooked are the winds of thee. Crooked are the winds of thee…”
Behind the Tree:
“They seem to be worshipping the fog,” Daniel whispered.
“It would seem so,” Teal’c whispered.
“We should head back and tell Jack and Sam about this,” Daniel whispered.
“I would concur,” Teal’c whispered.
They turned on their fog shields and headed back to the visitor’s cabin.
The Visitor’s Cabin:
Carter was sitting at the table trying to figure out how to lift the fog but she was having no success then the door opened and Teal’c and Daniel entered.
“We have found out something interesting,” Daniel said.
“What have you found out?” O’Neill asked.
“The place where Jeron heads there are people there that worship the fog. They said something about an Evil Thor and fog gods. Also, something about making a sacrifice to the Kemdral,” Daniel said.
“The Kemdral?” Carter asked.
“It must, from what I heard, be a place where those sacrifices they make go,” Daniel said.
“I suggest we go there, now that we know where this place is, during the day,” O’Neill said.
“They also said they pleased the fog gods and Evil Thor and because they did that the gods and Evil Thor brought more fog,” Daniel said.
“So if we lift the fog they will think they did not please their gods and Evil Thor the next time they make a sacrifice to this Kemdral,” Carter said.
“All we have to do is wait for them to make a sacrifice to this Kemdral,” Teal’c said.
The Next Morning in Darin’s Office:
SG-1 went to Darin’s office to tell her what Teal’c and Daniel found the previous day. Once there Daniel tells them what he and Teal’c heard and saw.
“I believe if we lift the fog after they make a sacrifice they will think the fog gods and Evil Thor are displeased with them,” Carter said, “The only problem I’m having is coming up with a way to lift the fog.”
“You might want to work with the weather people we have,” Darin said, “Then maybe an idea can be thought up and put into action.”
“You do that Carter while Teal’c, Daniel and I found out more about this whole thing,” O’Neill said.
“I would like to accompany you,” Darin said, “So I know where this place is.”
“Where are this weather people?” Carter asked.
“They are in the next building over,” Darin said, “I will take you there before we head out.”
Darin got out 2 more fog shields and handed one to O’Neill then put hers on. With that done they exited her office of sorts. They stopped at the building where the Takarein weather people were and Darin told those people Carter was here to help with fog then they got started right away. Darin, O’Neill, Teal’c and Daniel left after Darin was finished and headed to the area where the fog was.
The Weather Building:
“What do you know about the fog on this planet?” Carter asked.
“While it has been there for as long as I can remember,” Harin, one of the Takarein weather people, said.
“I know Takarein weather people go back many decades as does the study of the fog,” Barrin, another one of the Takarein weather people, said.
“No one has thought of a way to lift the fog in all the time,” Carter said.
“There have been many attempts made but no one was successful,” Barrin said.
“What if we were to combine what everyone did in those attempts,” Carter said.
“I had recently thought of that,” Harin said.
“Do have some kind of record of these attempts?” Carter asked.
“Yes in these trunks over here,” Barrin said as he pointed to where they were.
An Area Near the Fog:
The four of them turned on their fog shields and entered the fog. Once they were clear of the fog, they hid behind a tree and turned off the fog shields.
“This is where Teal’c and I saw them worshipping the fog,” Daniel said in a whisper.
Chanting could be heard in the background, “Crooked are the Winds of thee. Crooked are the Winds of thee…”
Teal’c, Daniel, Darin and O’Neill observe the area for the better part of the day and then headed back to town to see how Carter and weather people were coming on the plan. When they got to the building where Carter was they found out that a few more hours was needed before it would be complete.
In the Weather Building (a few hours later):
“That should about work,” Carter said, “With this we should be able to turn the fog off and on at will.”
“First thing tomorrow we will use the machine,” Harin said.
“What if we were to turn off the fog and then destroy the machine?” Carter asked.
“If we do what you say then they will have no more fog to worship and they will have no choice but to convert to the religion that has been around a long time,” Barrin said, “Longer then theirs.”
“Ah the major religion,” Carter said.
Harin nodded yes.
The Visitor’s Cabin:
Carter came in after she finished what she was doing in the weather building.
“So what happened with the weather people?” O’Neill asked.
”Well we have a machine that should turn the fog off and on at will,” Carter said.
“So, if I understand this it’s like a remote control for the fog,” O’Neill said.
“Yes, Sir,” Carter said.
“I will take first watch,” Teal’c said.
O’Neill nodded yes as he, Daniel and Carter headed to the back to the cots for some rest.
The next morning Carter headed to Darin’s, before her teammates awoke to tell her about the machine she and the weather people put together. Then the two of them headed to the weather building to get the machine.
The Weather Building/Visitor’s Cabin:
“We have the machine ready to go,” Barrin said.
“I will tell the rest of SG-1,” Carter said.
Darin nodded yes.
Carter headed back to the visitor’s cabin but something was not right. She then opened the door and didn’t see her teammates sitting at the table, so she went to the back where the cots were and there were only 4 backpacks.
“Daniel. Colonel. Teal’c,” Carter said, “Colonel. Teal’c. Daniel.”
She went outside the cabin and didn’t find them there either so she ran to Darin.
“A kid ran up to Darin and said, “Some men took three men towards the edge of the city.”
“Did one of the men have a gold tattoo of sorts?” Carter asked.
“Yes,” the kid said.
“The other two, did one of them have a hat on and the other glasses?” Carter asked.
“Yes,” the kid said.
“Thanks,” Carter said, “It’s definitely them Darin.”
“This would be a good time to use that machine,” Darin said.
“Why?” Carter asked.
“If we decrease the fog they will think the fog gods and Evil Thor are displeased with them,” Darin said.
“Well, let’s go,” Carter said.
“Here take this,” Darin said as she got out a fog shield deceive, “The weather people and I will me you at the edge of the city.”
The Outside of the City:
Carter headed straight for the edge of the city. About 10 minutes later Darin, Harin, and Barrin came with the machine.
“Let’s go,” Darin said.
“When we get there I could go in, find out what’s going on and give the signal to turn off the fog,” Carter said.
“Ok,” Darin said, “That way we know when to turn it off so it looks more convincing.”
They reached the fog and Carter turned on her fog shield and entered it while the others set up the machine behind a tree. When she got to the other side of the fog she heard someone say something.
“Jeron the prisoners have been parished to the Kemdral,” someone said.
“Crooked are the Winds of thee thy Evil Thor has parished 3 bodies to the Kemdral. We wish you to bring more fog,” Jeron said.
Carter moved as quickly as she could back to the area where Darin, Harin and Barrin were. Once there she asked, “Is the machine set up yet?”
“Just another minute,” Barrin said, “Why?”
“Now would be a good time to use it,” Carter said, “They said or rather someone said to Jeron the prisoners have been perished to the Kemdral.”
“If we could just find out were this Kemdral is we could find them,” Darin said.
“It probably wouldn’t help,” Carter said, “Because there could be no such thing as the Kemdral.”
“Turn on the machine Barrin and Harin,” Darin said.
Harin turned on the machine and it made the fog thinner. From a distance they could hear Jeron and the others chanting.
“Crooked are the winds of thee,” Jeron chanted, “Fog gods and Evil Thor we wish to know what has displeased you so much.”
“Here is what I will do. I will go back to Earth tell the head of SGC about this and see if he can sent teams out to look for them,” Carter said, “Just to make sure.”
Darin nodded yes.
Carter headed back to the visitor’s cabin to grab her back pack s well as they rest of SG-1's and headed back to the Stargate. Carter dialed Earth and once the gate was active and safe to enter she entered it.
The SGC:
General Hammond stood in the control room waiting for someone to come from the gate. When someone did, he headed down to the gate room. When he did get there he asked, “Colonel, what happened?”
“The rest of SG-1 is missing,” Carter said.
“How?” General Hammond asked.
Colonel Carter then told General Hammond the whole story.
“So you want me to send some teams out there to make sure they are not lost somewhere out there,” Hammond said.
“Yes, Sir,” Carter said as she coughed and sneezed.
“Alright but you are not going anywhere Colonel. I want you to stop at the infirmary and have Dr. Frasier check you out. It’s sounds like you are getting a cold,” Hammond said.
“I understand General,” Carter said before she headed to SG-1’s locker room. She took a shower, got changed and headed to the infirmary.
The Infirmary:
“Sam, General Hammond informed me you would be coming and told me what you told him about the rest of SG-1,” Dr. Frasier said, “How are you holding up?”
“I’ll be fine,” Carter said as she coughed.
“Let me have a look at that cough,” Dr. Frasier said.
When Dr. Fraiser was done checking Carter she said, “It looks like the flu. I want you to go home and get some rest. I am going to tell General Hammond so if the rest of
SG-1 is found and they will be that SG-1 should be on downtime until you are will enough to return to duty.”
“I will leave right now,” Carter said, “Are you alright Janet?”
“I’ll be fine,” Dr. Frasier said.
“You know like you said they will come home,” Carter said, “Colonel O’Neill and Daniel have a good reason to come home and we’re it. Knowing those two they won’t leave Teal’c behind.”
“You’re right,” Dr. Frasier said.
“Now I better leave and go home get some rest. Plus drink lots of orange juice and eat plenty of soup,” Carter said as she left.
Carter’s House:
Carter headed to her car not needing to change her clothes because she was already in civilian clothes. She drove home and once there she got into her nightclothes, grabbed a blanket and pillow from her bed and laid down her couch crying. She remembered the locket she had on and opened it up and stared at the picture of Jack. She must have cried herself to sleep because the next thing she heard was the doorbell ringing. She got up, closed the locket and headed to the door to answer it. When she opened the door she saw O’Neill. O’Neill put the two bags he had in his hands down and hugged Sam.
“Ok, now I want you to lay down Carter,” O’Neill said.
“How did you know I was sick?” Carter asked.
“One because I could tell from your face,” O’Neill said, “And second because Dr. Frasier told me.”
Sam headed to the couch and sat down while O’Neill brought in what he had in his hands earlier and closed the door.
“What’s in the bags?” Carter asked.
“Well one has clothes in it because I’m staying here until you are better and it has a gift for you,” O’Neill said, “The second one has oranges, orange juice, soup and Advil flu and body ache. You haven’t had anything to eat yet have?”
Carter nodded no.
“Good because I am going to make you some Campbell’s soup and squeeze you some orange juice. Then I was going to give you that gift I have for. After that, I was going to give you some Advil and for you head a cool damp cloth,” O’Neill said.
Sometime later, O’Neill came back by Sam with a tray in his hands and said, “Here you go Carter.”
Sam smiled as O’Neill set the tray in front of her and told him thank you.
“Your Welcome,” O’Neill said.
Moments later Carter finished her soup and orange juice. Then O’Neill got the gift he had for her out of his bag with his clothes.
“Here you go,” O’Neill said just as he handed it to her and took the tray.
Carter then remembered the gift she had for O’Neill. So she got up and went to her computer room to get it. She grabbed it and when back to the couch before he noticed.
“I bet you thought I didn’t see you get up. Well I did but don’t worry I’m not going to get mad,” O’Neill said.
“When you gave me this gift, I remembered I had a gift for you too,” Carter said.
O’Neill took the gift Carter handed him. Then Carter opened her gift and was surprised to see what was inside. It was a framed picture of O’Neill. Carter then waited for him to open his gift. When he opened his he found a framed picture of Carter.
“Thank You Sam,” O’Neill said.
“Your Welcome,” Carter said, “and thank you for this.”
“Your Welcome,” O’Neill said, “There is one thing you don’t know about the frame. Press this button.”
Carter pressed the button O’Neill was pointing to and the frame said, “I love you Sam.”
O’Neill saw Carter smile at him so he just hugged her and kissed her on the forehead. He put his picture of Carter in his bag and Carter put her hers on the end table.
“Oh, there is one more thing I should tell you. My buddy Thor happened to be in the neighborhood of the planet we were on and transported me, Daniel and Teal’c up to his ship,” O’Neill said.
“I’m just glad you’re back on Earth,” Carter said.
“Me too,” O’Neill said, “Now I think it's time that I got you that Advil flu and body ache and that damp cloth for you forehead so you can rest. I don’t want good old Doc Fras coming after me.”
Later that night, O’Neill sat in Carter’s armchair and watched her sleep on her couch. O’Neill noticed before falling asleep that Carter had a smile on her face. Then he fell asleep.
The End of Part 3.
